An autonomous vehicle (AV) includes features that allows the AV to perform safe driving operations. An example method includes detecting that a motorcycle is operating on a roadway on which the autonomous vehicle is located. The method further includes classifying a behavior state of the motorcycle based on a location of the motorcycle relative to a split zone that extends between and into two adjacent lanes of the roadway. The behavior state indicates whether the motorcycle is lane splitting. The method further includes determining, based on the behavior state of the motorcycle, a lane permission parameter that controls whether a given trajectory for the autonomous vehicle can extend into one of the two adjacent lanes. The method further includes causing the autonomous vehicle to operate in accordance with a trajectory that satisfies the lane permission parameter based on transmitting instructions related to the trajectory to subsystems of the autonomous vehicle.

A driving assistance method for operating a vehicle includes establishing a database, wherein the database includes pre-stores keywords, the keywords are defined as words related to traffic; obtaining electronic texts of traffic rules; extracting keywords in the electronic texts according to the database; generating a trigger condition based on the extracted keywords; obtaining a plurality of current driving parameters of the vehicle; and sending a driving assistance command when the current driving parameters satisfy the trigger condition. A system, a method, and a computer readable medium for communicating vehicle-specific policy to autonomous vehicles are provided herein. The method may include the following steps: storing, sensing and transmitting to the cellular communication network, data associated with autonomous vehicles; maintaining a set of rules for operational parameters of the autonomous vehicles, applying the data associated with the autonomous vehicles for each respective autonomous vehicle to the policy database, to yield a vehicle-specific configuration command; and generating a vehicle-specific configuration command to be sent to the respective autonomous vehicle, that when reaches the autonomous vehicle, configures the autonomous vehicles into one of a plurality of operational configurations.
