Electrified military vehicle
A driveline includes a driver configured to be positioned between an engine and a transmission. The driver includes a housing, a motor/generator, and a clutch. The housing includes an engine mount configured to couple to the engine and a backing plate configured to couple to the transmission. The motor/generator is disposed within the housing and configured to couple to an input of the transmission. The clutch is disposed within the housing and coupled to the motor/generator. The clutch is configured to selectively couple an output of the engine to the motor/generator. The clutch is configured to be spring-biased into engagement with the engine and pneumatically disengaged by an air supply selectively provided thereto.
Electrified military vehicle
A military vehicle includes a chassis, a front end accessory drive (FEAD), and circuitry. The chassis includes an engine and an integrated motor generator (IMG). The FEAD includes multiple accessories and an electric motor-generator. The circuitry is configured to operate the military vehicle according to different modes. The circuitry is configured to receive a user input indicating a selected mode of the modes, and operate the chassis and the FEAD of the military vehicle according to the selected mode. The modes include an engine mode and an electric mode. In the engine mode, the engine drives the FEAD and the tractive elements of the military vehicle through the IMG for transportation. In the electric mode, the engine is shut off to reduce a sound output of the military vehicle and the IMG drives the tractive elements of the military vehicle for transportation and the electric motor-generator drives the FEAD.
LOW GRAVITY ALL-SURFACE VEHICLE
Vehicles are disclosed which have a lower center of gravity than existing all-terrain, amphibious, and unmanned ground vehicles due to the location of propulsion units and other vehicle components inside the wheels of the vehicle. The vehicles can climb over large obstacles yet are also able to corner at high speeds. The vehicles can be configured for direct manual operation or operation by remote control, and can also be configured for a wide variety of missions.
Electrified military vehicle
A front end accessory drive (FEAD) for a military vehicle. The FEAD includes a first belt, a second belt, multiple accessories, an electric motor-generator, at least one other accessory, and a sprag clutch. The accessories and the electric motor-generator are coupled with the first belt. The at least one other accessory, the first belt, and the second belt are coupled with the sprag clutch. The second belt is configured to couple with an output shaft of an engine of the military vehicle and be driven by the output shaft of the engine to drive the sprag clutch. The sprag clutch is thereby configured to drive the at least one other accessory and the first belt, and the first belt is thereby configured to drive the plurality of accessories, and the electric motor-generator.
MAGNETIC LOCK WITH THROWABLE ROBOT
A two wheeled throwable robot comprises an elongate chassis with two ends, a motor at each end, drive wheels connected to the motors, and a tail extending from the elongate chassis. The throwable robot includes an enable/disable arrangement comprising a pair of magnets generating a magnetic field and a magnetic field sensor positioned in proximity to the pair of magnets. The sensor is activated upon the occurrence of a specific modification of the magnetic field. The throwable robot may include a key member formed of a material to modify the magnetic field to enable the robot.
OPTRONIC VIEWING DEVICE FOR A LAND VEHICLE
An optronic vision apparatus with which a land vehicle is intended to be equipped, includes a panoramic image sensor, at least one orientable camera, having a better resolution in a field of view that is smaller than the field of view of the panoramic image sensor, and an image-displaying device; wherein it also comprises a data processor that is configured or programmed to: receive at least one first image from the panoramic image sensor and one second image from the orientable camera; from the first and second images, synthesize a composite image in which at least one section of the second image is embedded in a section of the first image; and transmit the composite image to the image-displaying device. An armored vehicle equipped with such an optronic vision apparatus. A method by such an optronic apparatus is provided.
Engine control system and method
An engine control strategy for a marine vessel propulsion system receives a request for a gear from among plural transmission gears, determines an engine speed for the requested transmission gear shift, adjusts the engine to the determined speed for a predetermined amount of time, and prevents the requested transmission gear shift from occurring for the predetermined amount of time while maintaining the engine at the predetermined speed. After the predetermined amount of time elapses, the requested shift is allowed to occur.
MAGNETIC LOCK FOR THROWABLE ROBOT
A two wheeled throwable robot comprises an elongate chassis with two ends, a motor at each end, drive wheels connected to the motors, and a tail extending from the elongate chassis. There is provided an armoured land vehicle comprising:an armoured v shaped hull; a powerplant located within said chassis, at least one wheel set with a hub, and, at least one drive shaft comprising a shape memory alloy, wherein said drivetrain is located between and operably connected via drive couplings to said powerplant and the hub of the at least one wheel set, to provide drive to said at least one wheel set.
