CLEANING AN ITEM
20170265706 · 2017-09-21 ·

Methods and systems are provided for cleaning an item. The methods and systems include, with a cleaning system programmed to perform the method obtaining, with a location circuit, a location of a cleaning device, the cleaning device to be used to clean the item, based on the location of the cleaning device, determining environmental conditions for that location, and based on the environmental conditions for that location, presenting, via a user interface (UI), a recommendation to improve cleanliness of the item when cleaning the item with the cleaning device.

Multi-Stage Fluid Additive Dispenser
20170268152 · 2017-09-21 ·

An additive dispenser for a washing machine appliance is provided. The additive dispenser includes sidewalls and a bottom wall defining an additive reservoir. A first siphon and a second siphon are positioned within the additive reservoir. The first siphon defines a first peak and a first inlet. The second siphon defines a second peak and a second inlet. The first peak is defined at a lower vertical height than the second peak, and the first inlet is defined at a greater vertical height than the second inlet. Also provided are methods for operating a washing machine appliance having an additive dispenser, where the additive dispenser includes sidewalls and a bottom wall defining an additive reservoir, a first siphon defining a first inlet, and a second siphon defining a second inlet. The methods include opening and closing one or more valves to flow water to the additive reservoir of the dispenser.

Laundry treatment machine and method of operating the same
09809923 · 2017-11-07 · ·

Disclosed are a laundry treatment machine and a method of operating the same. The method of operating the laundry treatment machine includes performing a primary sensing of an amount of laundry within the tub, supplying water to a first water level within the tub, sensing the level of water within the tub, performing a secondary sensing of the amount of laundry within the tub, and judging whether the laundry includes dry laundry or wet laundry using the primarily sensed amount of laundry, the secondarily sensed amount of laundry, and the sensed water level value. This method ensures efficient implementation of sensing of amount of laundry.

Drum type washing machine and operating method of the same

A washing machine for washing laundry may include a drum type washing machine having a tub, a drum, a water pressure and/or level sensor, an air flow path, a bubble detecting sensor, and a controller. The bubble detecting sensor may be along the air flow path of the tub in order to detect whether bubbles, suds or foam are generated within the tub and/or whether the bubbles, suds or foam exceed an acceptable amount. When the bubbles within the tub are detected and/or exceed the acceptable amount, the washing machine (e.g., the controller) may perform a preset or predetermined bubble removing course or procedure to remove or reduce the bubbles.

Fabric treatment apparatus and control method thereof
09809920 · 2017-11-07 · ·

A fabric treatment apparatus including a steam spray device for heating water to generate steam and for spraying the generated steam into a space in which fabric is received and a water supply valve for adjusting flow of water supplied to the steam spray device to generate steam. A control method of the fabric treatment apparatus including controlling the water supply valve to be repeatedly opened and closed according to a first pattern and controlling the water supply valve to be repeatedly opened and closed according to a second pattern, the second pattern supplying a larger amount of water than in the first pattern for the same time period.

Washing machine with balancer and control method thereof

Disclosed herein are a washing machine with a balancer to counterbalance unbalanced load produced during rotation of a drum and a control method thereof. The washing machine having a balancer to counterbalance unbalanced load produced during rotation of the drum seats a mass in a groove in the balancer before rotation of the drum possibly producing unbalance as in the spin-drying cycle begins, thereby efficiently maintaining balance of the drum. Accordingly, vibration in the drum may be reduced and product liability incident due to touch of the frame may be prevented.

Laundry treating appliance with tumble pattern control

An apparatus and a method of operating a laundry treating appliance treating laundry according to a cycle of operation having by determining a parameter indicative of a change in packing density of the laundry in a treating chamber and taking an operating action based on the determined parameter.

Motor driving apparatus and laundry treatment machine including the same

The laundry treatment machine, absent a position sensor to sense the rotor position of a motor, includes a driving unit having an DC/AC inverter, an voltage detection unit to detect output voltage, and an inverter controller to control the inverter. The output voltage detection unit includes a plurality of resistors connected between the inverter and the motor and a comparator to compare voltage detected by some of the resistors with reference voltage and to detect pulse width modulation (PWM)-based output voltage. The voltage detection unit outputs the PWM-based output voltage output from the comparator to the inverter controller in a first mode in which at least one switching device of the inverter is turned on. The voltage detection unit outputs voltage detected by other some of the resistors to the inverter controller in a second mode in which all switching devices of the inverter are turned off.

Laundry treating appliance with remotely controlled airflow and method of operating the same

The souring of wet laundry in a laundry treating appliance may be retarded by sending an alert signal indicative of an ending of a cycle of operation from the laundry treating appliance to a remote electronic device. The appliance may receive an authorization signal from the electronic device indicative of an instruction to execute an anti-sour cycle. An anti-sour cycle comprising the energizing of a fan to flow air through a laundry treating chamber may be automatically initiated for the laundry treating appliance.

Washing machine appliance

A method for washing articles in a wash chamber of the washing machine appliance is provided. The method includes receiving user input of a user-selected water fill amount for a wash cycle, the user-selected water fill amount being the largest water fill amount available for selection by a user. The method also includes determining a characteristic of a load of the washing machine appliance and determining that an amount of water associated with the user-selected water fill amount is inadequate for the load. In response, the method includes providing the wash chamber of the washing machine appliance with an amount of water greater than an amount associated with the user-selected water fill amount.
