Method and system for managing multiple impressions of a patient's jaw for an orthodontic treatment is provided. The method includes scanning at least a first impression and a second impression of same jaw for the orthodontic treatment; determining if the first jaw impression and the second jaw impression have distortion in different areas; selecting the first jaw impression or the second jaw impression as a base impression; and replacing a distorted tooth data from the base impression with data for the same tooth from a non-base impression. The method also includes scanning at least a first jaw impression for the orthodontic treatment; scanning a bite impression for the orthodontic treatment; matching the scanned first jaw impression with the scanned bite impression; comparing bite information with a tooth occlusal surface; and determining if reconstruction is to be performed on the tooth occlusal surface.

Detection of transitions between text and non-text frames in a video stream

Detecting the start of a credit roll within video program may allow for the automatic extension of video recordings among other functions. The start of the credit roll may be detected by determining the number of text blocks within a sequence of frames and identifying a point in the sequence of frames where a difference between the number of text blocks in frames occurring before the point and the number of text blocks in frames occurring after the point is greatest and exceeds a specified threshold. Text blocks may be identified within each frame by partitioning the frame into one or more segments and recording the segments having a pixel of a sufficiently high contrast. Contiguous segments may be merged or combined into single blocks, which may then be filtered to remove noise and false positives. Additional content may be inserted into the credit roll frames.

Systems and methods for mobile image capture and processing of checks

Techniques for processing an image of a check captured using a mobile device are provided. The check image is processed to determine whether the check can be deposited at a bank via a mobile deposit process. The system can identify regions of the check—such as the endorsement area—to determine if the check has been properly endorsed. The system can be implemented on a mobile device and/or a server, where the mobile device routes the check image to the server for processing. If the check cannot be deposited, a rejection is forwarded in real time to the mobile device for possible correction.

A video processing apparatus includes: a first detection unit configured to detect a moving object from a movie; a second detection unit configured to detect an object having a predetermined shape from the movie; an extraction unit configured to extract a partial region of a region in which the second detection unit has detected the object having the predetermined shape in the movie; and a discrimination unit configured to discriminate whether the object detected by the second detection unit is a certain object depending on a ratio of a size of an overlapping region to a size of an extracted region extracted by the extraction unit, the overlapping region being a region where a region in which the first detection unit has detected the moving object in the movie and the extracted region overlap with each other.

Method and control device for identifying an object in a piece of image information

A method for identifying an object in a piece of image information representing a scene in a detection range of a camera during a situation includes: a step of reading in; a step of selecting; and a step of searching. In the step of reading in, the piece of image information and at least one parameter representing the situation are read in. In the step of selecting, a feature combination of an object class of the object, which is predictably identifiable in the situation, is selected using the parameter. In the step of searching, the feature combination is searched for in the piece of image information to identify the object.

Extending data-driven detection to the prediction of object part locations

Methods and systems for detecting an object part location based on an extended date-driven detection. A specific relevance value between configurations of parts with respect to a set of training images annotated with annotating objects can be defined. A similarity learning algorithm can be applied with respect to the parts to obtain a similarity function based on the similarity between the part configurations. The similarity learning algorithm receives a set of positive pair having similar part configuration and a negative pair having different configuration and returns the similarity function that tends to assign a high score to new positive pairs and a low score to negative pairs. A similarity between a new image and the training images can be measured utilizing the learned similarity function to obtain a neighbor image and a visible and/or non-visible part location with respect to the image can be predicted based on the neighbor image.

A position detection device capable of preventing an operation that is not intended by an operator from being detected as an input is provided. The position detection device includes: a detecting section that detects an indicator that performs an operation with respect to a screen, and a target different from the indicator; an imaging section that images a range including the screen to form a captured image; and a control section that detects a motion of the indicator based on data on the captured image of the imaging section to determine whether or not to detect an operation based on the indicator as an input.

Determining regions of interest based on user interaction
09842268 · 2017-12-12 · ·

A system and method provide for determining regions of interest within an image based on viewer interaction with the image. At least one image associated with a location is provided for display in a viewport, and pose data related to user interaction with the at least one image is identified. Weights are assigned to portions of the at least one image based on the pose data, the weights indicating at least a period of time the portion of the at least one image is generally at a center of the viewport. Based on the assigned weights, image regions of interest of the at least one image are determined.

ASSISTANCE DEVICE AND METHOD FOR PROVIDING IMAGING SUPPORT TO AN OPERATING SURGEON DURING A SURGICAL PROCEDURE INVOLVING AT LEAST ONE MEDICAL INSTRUMENT

Described is an assistance device for providing imaging support to an operating surgeon during a surgical procedure involving at least one medical instrument. The assistance device comprises a camera, a display unit, a manipulator coupled to the camera, a manipulator controller and an image processing unit. The image processing unit includes an instrument detection module for detecting at least one target structure that represents the instrument being used in the frame in question by identifying a predetermined distinguishing feature, and for extracting position information that indicates the position of the target structure in the frame. The instrument detection module identifies an image segment as the predetermined distinguishing feature, said image segment being characterized by a color saturation that is equal to or less than a predefined color saturation and by a contour line that delimits the image segment and has at least one rectilinear section.
