IMAGE DOCUMENT PROCESSING IN A CLIENT-SERVER SYSTEM INCLUDING PRIVACY-PRESERVING TEXT RECOGNITION
20170317983 · 2017-11-02 · ·

Disclosed are devices and methods for processing an image document in a client-server environment such that privacy of text information contained in the image document is preserved. Specifically, in a client-server environment, an image document can be processed using a local computerized device of a client to create an obfuscated document by identifying word images in the image document and scrambling those word images. The obfuscated document can be received by a server of a service provider over a network (e.g., the Internet) and processed by previously trained software (e.g., a previously trained convolutional neural network (CNN)) to recognize specific words represented by the scrambled images in the obfuscated document without having to reconstruct the image document. Since the image document is neither communicated over the network, nor reconstructed and stored on the server, privacy concerns are minimized.

Model-based dewarping method and apparatus

An apparatus and method for processing a captured image and, more particularly, for processing a captured image comprising a document. In one embodiment, an apparatus comprising a camera to capture documents is described. In another embodiment, a method for processing a captured image that includes a document comprises the steps of distinguishing an imaged document from its background, adjusting the captured image to reduce distortions created from use of a camera and properly orienting the document is described.

Identification apparatus and identification method

An identification apparatus for identifying vehicles and/or vehicle components includes: an image signal receiving unit receiving from an image signal source an image signal containing image data of a vehicle and/or of at least one vehicle component; a memory unit storing data of vehicles and/or at least one vehicle component; a comparison unit comparing the image data received with image data of the data sets stored in the memory unit, and to identify those data sets which contain image data that match the received image data; and an image signal data generating unit which generate output image signal data for at least one output image, the output image signal data containing at least a portion of the received image data and data from the data sets stored in the memory unit which have been identified by the comparison unit.

Address recognition apparatus, sorting apparatus, integrated address recognition apparatus and address recognition method

An address recognition apparatus has an address recognition section, and a non-addressee determination section. The address recognition section acquires, based on an image of an object, address information described on the object. The non-addressee determination section determines, based on a comparison result of information relating to first address information that is the address information acquired in the address recognition section at a desired timing, and information relating to second address information that is the address information acquired in the address recognition section before the first address information, whether or not the first address information is a non-destination address that is not an address of an addressee.

Vehicle safety system and operating method thereof

There is provided a vehicle safety system including a sensing unit, a processing unit, a control unit and a display unit. The sensing unit is configured to capture an image frame containing an eyeball image from a predetermined distance. The processing unit is configured to calculate a pupil position of the eyeball image in the image frame and generate a drive signal corresponding to the pupil position. The control unit is configured to trigger a vehicle device associated with the pupil position according to the drive signal. The display unit is configured to show information of the vehicle device.

Printer method and apparatus

A printer has a light source that directs light toward a print medium path. An RGB sensor is positioned to receive light from the light source that is reflected by the print medium. An infrared light filter is situated between the RGB sensor and the paper to filter out infrared light. A programmed processor is coupled to an output of the RGB sensor in order to detect form elements in the output from the RGB light sensor, retrieve a stored electronic representation of a form, match the form elements to the stored electronic representation of the form to identify locations on the form, and control printing to the form.

Systems and methods for surface and subsurface damage assessments, patch scans, and visualization

An unmanned autonomous vehicle assessment and reporting system may conduct patch scan analyses of a roof. Damage points on the roof may be evaluated for severity and assigned a severity value. A remediation status may be objectively developed for one or more faces of the roof based on the number of damage points within a patch region of a defined size and the severity value of each of the damage points within the patch region. A visualization system may overlay markings, such as color-coded markings, to display a representation of a roof, patch regions, damage points, and/or severity values.

A METHOD FOR PLACING AND REMOVING PIPE FROM A FINGER RACK

A system for placing and removing pipe from a finger rack of a drilling rig, the system comprising a pipe handling apparatus (140) and a finger rack (139) having at least one finger board (102) having at least two fingers (103 to 106) defining a slot (107 to 109) and a multiplicity of latches (114) arranged therebetween defining a space for a pipe, each latch (114) of the multiplicity of latches selectively movable between an open position and a closed position, the system further comprising at least one camera (101) having said at least one latch (114) of said multiplicity of latches in a field of view, capturing an image of said latch and sending said image to a master control computer (12′), said master computer control computer (12′) programmed with a set of instructions to analyse said image for details indicative of the latch (114) being in an open position or closed position, concluding the latch (114) to be in an open position or closed position and allowing or disallowing a pipe handling apparatus to place or remove a pipe in the finger rack (139) based on said conclusion.

TECHNIQUES FOR RESTORING CONTENT FROM A TORN DOCUMENT
20170308745 · 2017-10-26 ·

Disclosed are various embodiments for digitally restoring content from a torn document. A computing device obtains an image of a document that has a tear. The computing device identifies portions of the image separated by a gap region representing the tear in the document. Content in the portions of the image adjacent to the gap region is then identified. The position of a portion of the image is incrementally adjusted to reduce the gap region without overlapping the portions. The position of the portion is adjusted to align the content along a boundary between the portions of the image.

EMBROIDERY REGION DETECTION APPARATUS, EMBROIDERY REGION DETECTION METHOD, RECORDING MEDIUM FOR STORING PROGRAM, AND EMBROIDERY DESIGN LAYOUT SYSTEM

Information with respect to an embroidery frame and information with respect to a mark alignment region are acquired. The mark alignment region is displayed for guiding multiple marks that are provided to an embroidery frame in order to define an embroidery region in the embroidery frame. When the multiple marks thus displayed are all positioned within the mark alignment region, an image of the embroidery region is acquired. Image analysis is performed based on the information with respect to the embroidery frame thus acquired and the information with respect to the multiple corresponding marks within the acquired image. Subsequently, the embroidery region within the embroidery frame is determined based on the analysis result. This allows the embroidery region to be detected with high precision in a simple manner.
