An apparatus for extruding a jacket and/or insulative material onto an extruded product with one or more longitudinal stripes incorporated onto the surface of said extruded product comprising a body, a primary feed conduit for conveying a primary extrusion material, a striping die, a secondary feed conduit for conveying a secondary extrusion material, a striping die adapter, a striping feed conduit extending through the striping die adapter for conveying striping extrusion material. The striping die adapter may also include a thermocouple for maintaining the viscosity of the striping extrusion material and a thermocouple for monitoring the temperature of said striping die adapter. The striping die includes one or more striping extrusion outlets for conveying striping extrusion material onto the extruded product. The striping die may also include a wishbone-shaped trough for delivering equal amounts of striping extrusion material to said extrusion outlets for extrusion onto the product.

The controller controls the two-dimensional cross-section compression applied to the treated material such that, during compression, liquids in the treated material migrate to the outer surface of the treated material upon reaching the outlet orifice.

A method is provided for producing solid cellulose filaments or films from a solution of cellulose, NMMO (N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide) and water, including pressure-extruding the solution by one or more extrusion openings and by solidifying the filaments or films in a precipitation bath. The solution is guided between the extrusion opening and the precipitation bath by an air gap, the temperature of the solution on the extrusion opening being lower than 105 C. and the pressure difference in the air gap between the pressure of the solution immediately prior to extrusion and after extrusion is between 8 and 40 bar.

System, method and apparatus for producing a multi-layer, microcapillary film

The instant disclosure provides a die assembly for producing microcapillary film. The die assembly is operatively connectable to an extruder having a thermoplastic material passing therethrough. The die assembly includes a pair of die plates, a manifold, and a plurality of nozzles. The manifold is positionable between the pair of die plates and defining a plurality of film channels therebetween. The plurality of film channels converge into an elongate outlet. The thermoplastic material is extrudable through the plurality of film channels and the elongate outlet to form a multi-layer film. The plurality of nozzles are positionable between the plurality of film channels. The plurality of nozzles are operatively connectable to a source of channel fluid for emitting the channel fluid into the thermoplastic materials exiting the die whereby microcapillaries are formed.
