Scale-based systems and methods for monitoring heart function
In accordance with an example embodiment, a body-weight sensing scale includes cardio-based physiological sensing circuitry to detect heart characteristics of a user, and provide outputs indicative of the detected heart characteristics. A processor circuit is arranged with the cardio-based physiological sensing circuitry to process data to provide a noise-reduced cardiogram signal which characterizes functionality/health of the user's heart.
AUTOMATIC ANALYSIS OF UTERINE ACTIVITY SIGNALS AND APPLICATION FOR ENHANCEMENT OF LABOR AND DELIVERY EXPERIENCE
A uterine activity analysis apparatus, comprising a rendering device at least one controller coupled to the rendering device, and configured to acquire a uterine activity signal (UAS) corresponding to uterine activity of a patient; determine uterine activity information based upon the acquired UAS and render, on the rendering device, content based at least in part including UAS upon the determined uterine activity information. The controller may compare the determined uterine activity information with threshold uterine activity information and provide clinical decision support (CDS) based upon the decision. Furthermore, the controller may render a breathing guide to illustrate a preferred breathing pattern, when the start of a contraction is detected.
Conditional Gastrointestinal Stimulation for Improved Motility
Systems and methods for gastrointestinal electrical stimulation to treat abnormalities in gastrointestinal motility are provided. In some embodiments, a system for relieving ileus includes an intraluminal catheter comprising: a catheter body having a proximal tip and a distal tip and a duodenal portion proximal to the distal tip of the catheter; and at least one electrode pair disposed along the duodenal portion of the intraluminal catheter, the at least one electrode pair being configured to detect a sensing information indicative of myoelectric activity of a patient and to provide stimulation energy; a sensing system in communication with the at least one electrode pair to receive the sensing information; and an energy delivery system in communication with the at least one electrode pair and the sensing system, the electrical energy delivery system being configured to delivery energy to the patient through the at least one second electrode pair based on the sensing information from the sensing system.
A SYSTEM AND A METHOD FOR GNERATING STRESS LEVEL AND STRESS RESILIENCE LEVEL INFORMATION FOR AN INDIVIDUAL
A system and a method for generating stress level information for an individual and stress level resilience information for an individual, which includes a stress information processing module configured to process stress information for the individual, the stress information for the individual comprising at least two of psychometric information for the individual, physiological information for the individual, behavioural information for the individual, and cognitive function information for the individual.
Systems and methods for performing surface electromyography and range-of-motion test
A soft-tissue-injury diagnostic system for diagnosing soft tissue injury within a patient includes a set of hand-held inclinometers configured and arranged for measuring angles formed between a first inclinometer disposed in proximity to a patient joint and a second inclinometer disposed distal to the joint during controlled patient movements of the joint. A plurality of measuring electrodes are coupleable in proximity to the patient's spine along the body portion that moves along the joint. The measuring electrodes are configured and arranged for measuring action potentials along patient muscle groups during the controlled patient movements of the joint and transmitting the measured action potentials to a dynamic surface electromyograph (“sEMG”) module. A hub receives and processes data from the inclinometers and the dynamic sEMG module. A visual display is configured and arranged for receiving and displaying the processed data.
Endotracheal tube apparatus
An apparatus for monitoring EMG signals of a patient's laryngeal muscles includes an endotracheal tube having an exterior surface and a first location configured to be positioned at the patient's vocal folds. A first electrode is formed on the exterior surface of the endotracheal tube substantially below the first location to receive EMG signals primarily from below the vocal folds. A second electrode is formed on the exterior surface of the endotracheal tube substantially above the first location to receive EMG signals primarily from above the vocal folds. The first and second electrodes are configured to receive the EMG signals from the laryngeal muscles when the endotracheal tube is placed in a trachea of the patient.
RISE ACTION ASSISTANCE DEVICE AND RISE ACTION ASSISTANCE METHOD
A rise action assistance device according to an aspect of the present disclosure is provided with: a myoelectric potential acquirer that acquires a myoelectric value of a sitting user's tibialis anterior muscle, and a myoelectric value of the sitting user's vastus lateralis muscle or a myoelectric value of the sitting user's vastus medialis muscle; an angle acquirer that acquires a bend angle of the sitting user's upper body; a detector circuit that detects a start of a rise action by the user, based on the myoelectric value of the user's tibialis anterior muscle, the myoelectric value of the user's vastus lateralis muscle or the myoelectric value of the user's vastus medialis muscle, and the bend angle of the user's upper body; and an assistor that starts assistance of the rise action after the start of the rise action is detected.
Orthotic device
An orthotic device including a forearm support section configured to be releasably attached to a user's arm, a hand support section configured to be releasably attached to the user's hand, and an adjustable joint coupled to the forearm support section and the hand support section. At least one electromyography sensor is coupled to the forearm support section and positioned to sense activity of muscles in the user's arm, at least one electrode is coupled to the forearm support section and configured to provide electrical stimulation to muscles in the user's arm, and a controller is operatively coupled to the at least one electrode, the controller being configured to deliver electrical stimulation to the at least one electrode.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR AUTHENTICATING WIRELESS PROGRAMMING DEVICES IN PROGRAMMABLE MEDICAL SYSTEMS
A medical device of a medical system is configured for communicating with an external programmer over a wireless communications link. The medical device comprises a wireless communications module configured for receiving a first unencrypted version of a random number and a first encrypted version of the random number from the external programmer over the wireless communications link. The medical device further comprises control circuitry configured for performing an authentication procedure on the external programmer based on the first unencrypted version of the random number and the first encrypted version of the random number, and preventing the external programmer from commanding the medical device to perform an action unless the authentication procedure is successful.
