The invention provides novel devices, systems, designs, materials and fabrication methods that enable high-load capacity, easy release, and suitable for extended/repeated use in a variety of applications.

The invention provides adhesives comprising at least one polymer component which contains at least 65 weight percent propylene, at least one nucleator and at least one functionalized wax. The inventive adhesives have increased heat resistance and decreased set-time, making them particularly well suited for assembly and packaging applications.

A fluid activatable adhesive for a liner-free label and methods of using are described. Preferably, the adhesive composition includes a polymer, such as an emulsion polymer formed from monomers selected from the group consisting of butyl acrylate, 2-ethylhexyl acrylate, methyl acrylate, 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid (AMPS), a salt of AMPS, such as its sodium salt, styrene, and combinations thereof. One embodiment of the present invention provides a system for providing exclusive access to a virtual private network (VPN) connection to an authorized application. During operation, the system creates a unique network namespace that is different from a default network namespace of a host system. The system then places a pseudo network interface associated with the VPN connection into the unique network namespace. Furthermore, the system places at least one socket for an authorized application into the unique network namespace. The system also precludes unauthorized applications on the host from accessing the unique network namespace, thereby facilitating exclusive access to the VPN connection by the authorized application.

The invention relates to a method for producing an adhesive tape, in particular a wrapping tape to be wrapped around cables in automobiles. In said method, at least one face of a perforated support (1) is coated with an adhesive. According to the invention, a mechanically and/or chemically reinforced nonwoven fabric is used as the perforated support (1).

A microencapsulated pigment including a leuco dye system is incorporated as one or more layers in a roll of adhesive tape. The tape is applied and may be rubbed by hand or another object to induce a color change. The change may serve as an indicator that the tape is well adhered for masking purposes in a painting operation, or to present a design where only selected portions of the tape are rubbed to induce the color change. The microencapsulated pigment may be constructed so that the color change is irreversible or reversible.

A method for joining two carpet segments, each carpet segment having an underside and at least one edge, comprises abutting one edge of one carpet segment with one edge of the other carpet segment, positioning a length of seam tape under the abutting edges, and activating the adhesive to secure the seam tape to the undersides of both carpet segments. The seam tape comprises an elongated base layer being resilient in a longitudinal direction, an intervening layer applied to the base layer, and an adhesive applied to the intervening layer.
