Device and Method of Handling Communication with Base Station
A communication device of handling communication with a base station (BS) comprises instructions of being configured a radio resource control (RRC) connection with the BS by the BS; receiving an RRCConnectionRelease message via the RRC connection from the BS; and delaying at least one operation for a first duration, when receiving the RRCConnectionRelease message, wherein the first duration is from a first time instant at which the RRCConnectionRelease message is received, and the first duration is a first value or a smaller one of the first value and a second value, wherein the first value is predefined as more than 60 ms and the second value is from the first time instant to a second time instant at which the communication device successfully acknowledges a reception of the RRCConnectionRelease message to the BS.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR OPERATION OF MULTI-SIM DEVICE
Methods, devices, and systems are disclosed for allocating the Radio Frequency (RF) resources of a multi-Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) device among multiple installed SIMS to receive their respective paging signals. In one embodiment, a method comprises generating a paging pattern of the first SIM, detecting a first collision between Radio Frequency (RF) resource allocations to the first SIM and the second SIM for receiving the paging signal, wherein RF resources are not allocated to the first SIM in the collision, and allocating the RF resources to the first SIM or the second SIM based on the generated paging pattern of the first SIM after the first collision.
ADAPTIVE RECEIVE DIVERSITY
A wireless device comprises a primary antenna, a primary transceiver, one or more secondary antennas and one or more receive diversity chains. The receive diversity chains, in some embodiments, include transceiver capability. The wireless device measures and collects various statistics. Based on the statistics, the wireless device enables or disables one or more of the receive diversity chains with respect to a cellular radio access technology (RAT). A disabled receive diversity chain, in some instances is then powered down. During an interval when a receive diversity chain is disabled, the control logic periodically or on an event-driven basis enables a given receive diversity chain to probe channel quality indicator (CQI) and channel rank values. In some embodiments, a time interval for collecting a portion of the statistics, is adapted or backed off in anticipation of use of the receive diversity chain, based on traffic circumstances.
WIRELESS DEVICE INITIATED HANDOVER
Aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques and apparatus for user equipment initiated handover. Certain aspects include a method for wireless communications by a user equipment (UE) including determining a first signal metric between the UE and a first base station, while the UE has a connection established with the first base station. The method further includes determining a second signal metric between the UE and a second base station, while the UE does not have a connection established with the second base station. The method further includes determining that the second signal metric is stronger than the first signal metric. The method further includes declaring a radio link failure with the first base station based on determining that the second signal metric is stronger than the first signal metric. The method further includes establishing a connection with the second base station.
APPARATUSES AND METHODS FOR CELL SELECTION DURING A CALL FALLBACK FROM AN ADVANCED NETWORK TO A LEGACY NETWORK
A mobile communication device including a wireless transceiver and a controller is provided. The wireless transceiver performs wireless transmission and reception to and from an advanced network and a legacy network. The controller receives a message from the advanced network via the wireless transceiver for redirecting the mobile communication device from the advanced network to the legacy network in response to a request for a call, searches for a suitable cell in the legacy network via the wireless transceiver in response to receiving the message, and camps on the suitable cell for making the call via the wireless transceiver regardless of the suitable cell being of a low priority and whether there is another suitable cell of a normal priority or not.
DISCOVERY SIGNAL MEASUREMENT TIMING CONFIGURATION FOR SCELLS IN ASYNCHRONOUS NETWORKS
Systems and methods relating to Discovery Signal Measurement Timing Configuration (DMTC) are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method of operation of a radio access node in a cellular communications network comprises sending, to a wireless device, a DMTC for one of a group consisting of: (a) a Secondary Cell (SCell) configured for the wireless device such that the DMTC is a specific DMTC for the SCell and (b) a frequency on which one or more asynchronous cells are operating, an asynchronous cell being a cell that is unsynchronized with a Primary Cell (PCell) of the wireless device. A DMTC configuration that is specific to a SCell provides improved measurement performance on the SCell because, e.g., the DMTC configuration can be specifically tailored to that SCell. A DMTC configuration for a frequency on which one or more asynchronous cells are operating provides improved measurement performance on that carrier.
Device, System, and Method for Adaptive Scheduling Request Suppression
A method and device for scheduling SR transmissions for a user equipment (UE) associated with an evolved Node B (eNB) of a Long Term Evolution (LTE) network. The method includes determining an SR is to be transmitted to the LTE network, determining an uplink grant behavior of the eNB, when the uplink grant behavior of the eNB indicates that previous uplink grants satisfy a threshold of previous grants occurring in onDurations of the cycle of a C-DRX functionality, selecting one of the at least one SR opportunity that follows a next onDuration relative to when the indication is received and scheduling the SR in the one of the at least one SR opportunity that follows the next onDuration. The method further including determining an uplink grant turnaround time associated with the eNB, and selecting one of the at least one SR opportunity based on the uplink grant turnaround time.
System and Method for Cell Switching
A method for operating a first distributed unit (DU) includes participating in a link layer context transfer with a second DU, establishing a user data path for a mobile device, the user data path connecting the mobile device with a centralized unit (CU) including a radio control protocol entity communicating with the mobile device, and storing first user data for the mobile device received from the CU and second user data for the mobile device received from the second DU. The method includes establishing a connection with the mobile device, sending the first user data and the second user data to the mobile device, and adapting the link layer context to operate in the first DU for exchanging data between the CU and the mobile device, wherein adapting the link layer context includes associating an uppermost protocol layer of the first DU with a lowest protocol layer of the CU.
TECHNIQUES FOR COMMUNICATING IN A DISCONTINUOUS RECEIVE MODE
Aspects described herein relate to configuring a discontinuous receive (DRX) mode in wireless communications. A transmission burst can be received over a communication frame, wherein the transmission burst includes a scheduling indication. A DRX OFF mode can be entered to suspend communication resources during at least an off period corresponding to a portion of a time period for the transmission burst based at least in part on the scheduling indication. A DRX ON mode can be entered to activate the communication resources during an on period corresponding to another portion of the time period subsequent to the off period defined for the transmission burst or a different time period subsequent to the time period defined for the transmission burst based at least in part on the scheduling indication.
Device, System, and Method for Adaptive Monitoring to Optimize Power Consumption
A device, system, and method adaptively adjusts monitoring for opportunities. The method is performed at a user equipment (UE) configured to control an operation of a transceiver, the transceiver configured to enable the UE to establish a connection with a Long Term Evolution (LTE) network, the user equipment and the LTE network configured with and utilizing a Connected Discontinuous Reception (CDRX) functionality. The method includes receiving a response from the LTE network for an uplink transmission. When the response is an acknowledgement (ACK), the method includes determining whether a value of a network parameter associated with the connection with the LTE network satisfies a predetermined threshold. When the network parameter satisfies the predetermined threshold, the method includes omitting a monitoring opportunity to verify that the ACK is a true ACK.
