Silent Invocation of Emergency Broadcasting Mobile Device
20170318146 · 2017-11-02 ·

Systems and methods are disclosed for discreetly broadcasting emergency communications to emergency contacts from a mobile computing device. To accomplish the foregoing, a shutdown command is received on a mobile computing device to initiate a shutdown process. In accordance with the shutdown process, the mobile computing device monitors for a preconfigured passcode, picture, or combination of inputs to authorize the actual shutdown of the mobile computing device. Based on determining that the received passcode, picture, or combination of inputs is different than their preconfigured counterparts, a pseudo-shutdown mode is enabled, emulating an actual shutdown of the mobile computing device. The emergency broadcast mode of the mobile computing device is also started when the pseudo-shutdown mode enabled, to discreetly alert emergency contacts with emergency mode data generated by the mobile computing device.

Policy Driven Emergency Traffic Handling for Machine-to-Machine Device Communication

Concepts and technologies disclosed herein are directed to policy driven emergency traffic handling for machine-to-machine (“M2M”) device communication. According to one aspect of the concepts and technologies disclosed herein, an M2M application server can receive a plurality of emergency messages from a mobility management entity (“MME”) over a control plane interface. The plurality emergency message can be generated by a plurality of M2M devices in response to an emergency event. The M2M application server can filter, based upon a policy, the plurality of emergency messages to remove duplicate messages of the plurality of emergency messages in order to create a clean group of emergency messages. The M2M application server can forward the clean group of emergency messages to at least one public safety answering point (“PSAP”).

EMERGENCY REPORTING DEVICE AND METHOD

An emergency reporting device comprises a location detecting unit configured to detect a current location of the device; a message generating unit configured to generate an emergency reporting message to indicate an emergency in an event of the emergency; a translating unit configured to determine a transmission language of the message based on the detected location, and to translate the message to a version of the determined language; and a transmission management unit configured to select an emergency reporting contact number based on the detected location and to transmit the version of the determined language using the selected emergency reporting contact number.

Method that enables the user of a wireless telephone terminal to establish an emergency connection in a local network, and terminal and server for carrying out this method
09807579 · 2017-10-31 · ·

When establishing an emergency connection in a wireless network having an authentication server, wherein a user terminal is a non-subscriber to the network, a dialed number is recognized as an emergency number and the terminal sends a start-up message to a radio access point of the network. The terminal receives a first message that requests the identity of the terminal, from the access point in response to the start-up message, and sends a second message, which contains the identity of the terminal and an indication indicating that the terminal is attempting to make an emergency call. An authentication server determines that the second message contains an indication that the call is an emergency call, and sends an acceptance message to the terminal via the access point wherein a port of the access point is validated to permit the terminal to establish an emergency connection.

Method and system for obtaining location information regarding a device in a wireless network
09807562 · 2017-10-31 · ·

A method for execution by at least one entity in a wireless communication environment, comprising: receiving a request for location information pertaining to a subscriber device; obtaining contextual information regarding the request; and formulating a positioning request for transmission to the device, wherein depending on the contextual information, the positioning request is formulated to instruct the device to retrieve location information from a first or a second type of location establishment entity. Also, a method for execution by at least one entity in a wireless communication environment, the method comprising: receiving a request for location information pertaining to a device; determining that the device is equipped with both a built-in location establishment entity and a removable location establishment entity; consulting an information database to select one of the location establishment entities; instructing the device to retrieve location information from the selected location establishment entity.

Permitting direct mode communictions for public safety only in certain geographical areas

One kind of communication is referred to as device-to-device D2D communication. Misuse is an issue for this type of communication. For example a public safety network may permit D2D communication to operate in an area following a natural or other incident where the controlling network entity loses coverage. However this permission to allow D2D communication without the controlling entity can lead to users of D2D apparatus such as public safety communications devices configured for use in a first region being able to perform D2D communications in a second region in licensed bands that are illegal or not permitted. Furthermore, each device should be configured to setup an ad hoc network using D2D only in those areas where the licensed bands can be used legally by the device. Therefore, each device determines its position and blocks D2D operation when outside of a geographical area to which it was configured.

Providing additional information to called parties

A system, method, and computer readable medium for providing additional information to called parties comprises receiving a call from a calling party, performing a lookup of information associated with the calling party in a database, receiving the information from the database, and forwarding the information to a called party. The system comprises at least one device for receiving a call from a calling party, and at least one database for storing information associated with the calling party, wherein the at least one device is operable to perform a lookup of information associated with the calling party in a database, receive the information from the database, and forward the information to a called party.

Method for sending status information from a sender to a receiver
09807554 · 2017-10-31 · ·

A method of sending the value of a status variable from a sending device to a receiving device as part of a standardized binary coded radio message. The message includes fields for predetermined information to be sent with the message as well as a buffer field. The method includes causing the sending device to assemble, calculate a checksum for, digitally store and periodically transmit a predetermined type of message in the form of a radio signal readable by a receiving device. The status variable is not related to the predetermined information. Before the checksum is calculated, the sending device inserts the value of the status variable in binary coded format into the message in a buffer field. According to a governing messaging standard, the buffer field is not intended to transmit information. The receiving device interprets the binary value as the value of the status variable.

Emergency services routing proxy cluster management

Systems and methods for clustering emergency services routing proxies are provided. The described features allow a group of ESRPs running as individual servers or a group of virtual servers, to be referenced using a single URI. In one implementation, an emergency services routing proxy device includes an emergency services routing proxy node configured to route a call to a downstream entity, the call received from an upstream entity. The device further includes a cluster manager configured to receive registration information from the emergency services routing proxy node, the registration information including a routing service identifier. The cluster manager may be further configured to identify the emergency services routing proxy node for call routing based on a comparison of an identifier included in the call with the routing service identifier.

Measurements to aid rapid identification of neighbor cells

A method for communication in a wireless telecommunications system is provided. The method comprises performing, by a UE, responsive to the UE being engaged in an emergency service, at least one neighbor cell measurement regardless of a value of an RSRP in relation to a cell measurement parameter and regardless of a configuration status of the cell measurement parameter.
