ELECTROLYTIC CELL FOR HYPOCHLORITE GENERATION
An electrolytic cell, including a plurality of electrodes arranged to define a plurality of channels between adjacent electrodes is disclosed. Each channel is in fluid communication adjacent a first end with a first adjacent channel and is in fluid communication adjacent to a second end with a second adjacent channel. The electrolytic cell may be optimized for high concentration output of hypochlorite. The electrolytic cell may be used in conjunction with a plurality of cells operated collectively to provide operational efficiencies as compared to traditional hypochlorite generators.
Electrolysis device
An improved electrolysis system is disclosed in which the tank is designed to operate with a plurality of electrodes that are connected in a parallel plate configuration to a DC power source. The electrode geometry provides a means in which the height of the electrodes is lessened by increasing the length of the electrodes to provide the necessary area for any given current input. The lessened height of the electrode reduces the travel path of the gases escaping to the surface thereby reducing the void fracture height area of the bubbles and increasing the overall system efficiency. Additional efficiencies are obtained with a high surface area of contact between the electrical bus segments and the electrodes.
Apparatus and process for the production of soda ash
A device and process for the separate removal of oppositely charged ions from electrolyte solutions and recombining them to form new chemical compositions. The invention provides the ability to create multiple ion flow channels and then form new chemical compositions therefrom. The process is accomplished by selectively combining oppositely charged ions of choice from different electrolyte solutions via the capacitive behavior of high electrical capacitance electrodes confined in insulated containers. Industrial plants employing the inventive process can have the flexibility to produce needed industrial chemical compounds such as Soda Ash, Caustic Soda, hydrochloric acid and chlorine gas, based on market demand, and can be located near points of consumption to significantly reduce transportation costs.
Electrochemical production of synthesis gas
Various embodiments may include a method of electrochemical production of synthesis gas comprising: reducing carbon dioxide to a first product gas including carbon monoxide in a carbon dioxide electrolysis cell; splitting water to generate a second product gas including hydrogen in a water electrolysis cell; delivering at least one catholyte from the group consisting of: a first catholyte from the carbon dioxide electrolysis cell and a second catholyte from the water electrolysis cell, into a gas scrubbing apparatus; and removing non-reduced carbon dioxide from the first product gas in the gas scrubbing apparatus using the at least one catholyte as an absorbent.
Intermediate module for electrochemical cell stack
An electrochemical cell stack is disclosed having a plurality of stacked planar electrochemical cell modules, a first end plate at a first end of the stacked planar modules, and a second end plate at a second end of the stacked planar modules. Also included in the stack is an intermediate planar module disposed between adjacent electrochemical cells in the stack. In some aspects, the intermediate module includes a cavity disposed internally within the intermediate module that is in fluid communication with a fluid source at a pressure higher than the operating pressure of the electrochemical cell stack on either side of the intermediate module. In some aspects, the electrochemical cell stack includes an electrically conductive process liquid in fluid communication with a plurality of electrochemical cells in the stack, and the intermediate planar module includes an electrically non-conductive channel in fluid communication with the electrically conductive process liquid.
Electrolytic chlorine dioxide gas manufacturing device
The present invention provides a chlorine dioxide manufacturing device that can accurately control the amount of chlorine dioxide produced. The present invention provides a chlorine dioxide gas manufacturing device comprising an electrolysis chamber, a liquid surface level measuring chamber, and a bubbling gas feeding device. The electrolysis chamber and the liquid surface level measuring chamber each comprises an electrolytic solution and a gas and the electrolysis chamber and the liquid surface level measuring chamber are joined to each other above each liquid surface via a gas piping and joined to each other below each liquid surface via an electrolytic solution piping so that the height of the electrolytic solutions contained in each chamber are substantially equal.
Water electrolysis apparatus
A differential pressure type high pressure water electrolysis apparatus includes a seal member, which is sandwiched between a cathode side separator and a membrane electrode assembly, and surrounds a cathode electrode catalyst layer, and a pressure resistant member surrounding the seal member from an outer side thereof. A surface pressure applying member is interposed between the seal member and the pressure resistant member. The surface pressure applying member receives a pressing force from the seal member, and applies pressure to the membrane electrode assembly.
Module and module accomodation device
A module of the present invention is formed by housing, in a housing container, a cell stack device that includes cell stacks comprising an arrangement of a plurality of cells. The housing container includes a housing chamber that houses the cell stack device; a first gas introduction section provided in a lower portion of the housing chamber and configured to introduce a first gas supplied into the housing chamber; and a first gas circulation section provided on a side of the housing chamber and connected to the first gas introduction section. The width of the first gas circulation section is narrower than the width of the first gas introduction section.
