Low cost, rugged, lightweight environmental control unit
An air conditioning apparatus for cooling and/or dehumidifying an interior space, such as the interior of a shelter or tent that provides for simplified manufacturing, simplified inspection and servicing, reduced noise, reduced vibration, reduced weight, increased ruggedness and health monitoring. Structural components of the apparatus are fabricated from foam-filled molded parts with interlocking components, and the unit is assembled and tested without any outside cover, but once the cover is installed, additional structural strength is obtained from the cover. A refrigerant flow sensor along with other sensors are used to determine actual real time cooling capacity measurements and health monitoring.

The extruded article can include a body member including a first portion comprising a first composition, the first composition comprising a polymer resin. The extruded body member can also include a second portion comprising a second composition different than the first composition. The second composition can include a polymer resin, fibers, and at least one component selected from the group consisting of at least 1% by weight particles and at least 5 phr impact modifier. Other embodiments are also included herein.
Heat flux sensor and method of manufacturing the same
A heat flux sensor is provided with a main body which detects heat flux, and filling members. The main body has a first surface. The first surface has an uneven shape, with a plurality of concave portions and a plurality of convex portions. The filling members are filled in the plurality of concave portions. Surfaces of the filling members constitutes a part of an outer surface of the heat flux sensor. The degree of flatness of the outer surface is higher than the degree of flatness of the first surface of the main body.
Use of mixtures of polyvinyl alcohol with less polar polymers as support structure in 3D printing process
A process of manufacturing a three-dimensional object includes a step of depositing and solidifying molten polyvinyl alcohol to form a support structure; and a step of depositing and solidifying a molten thermoplastic polymer on the support structure to form a three-dimensional preform. The support structure has a mixture of at least 50% by weight of polyvinyl alcohol and at most 50% by weight of at least one polymer of polyvinyl butyral, polylactid acid, ethylene-vinylalcohol-vinylacetate terpolymer, vinyl acetate-vinyl pyrrolidone copolymer, acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene terpolymer, polycaprolactone, vinyl acetate-vinyl caprolactame copolymer, and polyvinyl alcohol having a degree of hydrolysis DH of 30-65%. The support structure can be dissolved to form the three-dimensional object.
Methods for manufacturing wind turbine rotor blade components
A method for manufacturing a rotor blade component of a rotor blade includes feeding a flat sheet of material into a thermoforming system, wherein the material comprises at least one of a thermoplastic or thermoset material. The method also includes heating the flat sheet of material via the thermoforming system. Further, the method includes shaping the heated flat sheet of material via at least one roller of the thermoforming system into a desired curved shape. Moreover, the method includes dispensing the shaped sheet of material from the thermoforming system. In addition, the method includes cooling the shaped sheet of material to form the rotor blade component.
Thermoplastic composite in-situ melt processing method for composite overwrapped tools
An in-situ melt processing method for forming a fiber thermoplastic resin composite overwrapped workpiece, such as a composite overwrapped pressure vessel. Carbon fiber, or other types of fiber, are combined with a thermoplastic resin system. The selected fiber tow and the resin are prepared for impregnation of the tow by the resin. The resin is melted; and, carbon fiber is impregnated with the melted resin at the filament winding machine delivery head. The molten state of the composite is maintained and is applied, in the molten state, to the heated surface of a workpiece. The portion of the surface being wrapped is heated to the melting point of the thermoplastic resin so that the molten composite more efficiently adheres to the heated surface of the workpiece and so that the uppermost layer of fiber resin composite is molten when overwrapped resulting in better adherence of successive layers to one another.
Panel with paint ready surface
In a preferred embodiment, a composite panel with a smooth outer surface, ready for painting with or without addition of primer, may be created by constructing a panel layup assembly upon a mold, the panel layup assembly including a composite panel having a core and a resin formulation, and a release film between the mold and the composite panel, where a smooth release surface of the release film is in contact with the composite panel upon construction; initiating curing of the composite panel at a first temperature within a lowermost ten percent of a curing temperature range of the resin formulation; continuing curing of the composite panel at a second temperature above the lowermost ten percent of the curing temperature range; and completing curing of the composite panel at a third temperature below the second temperature.
Production method and production apparatus for thermoplastic film
In a production apparatus, a pass line for conveying a film is formed in parts of both belts wound on common rolls and in contact with each other across the film, a discharge port of a discharger is so provided that the molten resin reaches one first roll, out of a group of first rolls, on a side upstream of the pass line, and the common rolls include a cooling roll for cooling and solidifying the molten resin discharged from the discharge port and having reached the first roll.
Intra-mode moulding foam molding device of thermoplastic polymer particle and molding method for same
An intra-mode moulding foam molding device of thermoplastic polymer particles and a molding method thereof. The device includes a supercritical fluid delivery system, a mould pressing foaming system, a preheating quantitative feeding system and a moving rail; the supercritical fluid delivery system communicates with the mould pressing foaming system. Through a one-step foam molding method of polymer particles, polymer particles can be directly added into a molding cavity without pre-foaming, water and anti-sticking separating agent are not needed; the molding process does not need high-pressure water vapor for warming and molding, and has great adhesion force and is also clean, therefore polymer materials are easy to hydrolyze. The processing needs few heat, the heating efficiency of the polymer particles is high, the temperature of the polymer particle is uniform, and a polymer particle microcellular foamed mould pressing molded product having fine pores, precise size and light weight is obtained.
