METHOD OF PRODUCING COLORANT, PIGMENT COMPOSITION, AND AQUEOUS PIGMENT DISPERSION
An object of the present invention is to provide a method of efficiently producing a colorant that can be used for production of a pigment composition or an aqueous pigment dispersion with a small volume-average particle size of a dispersed substance and with fewer coarse particles. The inventor of the present invention has achieved the object by a method of producing a colorant that includes: step 1 of kneading a composition containing a pigment having a primary particle size of 100 nm or more, a liquid medium, and a water-soluble inorganic salt with a processing machine to produce a kneaded product containing a pigment having a primary particle size in a range of 10 nm or more and less than 100 nm; and step 2-1 of mixing the kneaded product, a resin having an anionic group, and a basic compound.
Universal pigment preparations for point-of-sale use
Subject matter are aqueous, low-VOC/SVOC universal pigment preparations comprising a pigment component; a water-soluble, nonionic, surface-active additive comprising a copolymer formed from a vinyl monomer and from an ethylenically unsaturated monomer selected from the group consisting of monocarboxylic esters, dicarboxylic esters, monocarboxamides, and dicarboxamides, the vinyl monomer and/or the ethylenically unsaturated monomer containing an N-containing group with pigment affinity; a phosphoric or phosphonic ester, and optionally customary additives. The aqueous pigment preparations are suitable for the coloring of inks, paints, and renders, especially in metering systems at the point of sale or in in-plant tinting systems.
Process for preparing an aqueous dispersion of pigment containing particles
A process for preparing an aqueous dispersion of pigment particles is described. The pigment particle contains a pigment and an aminoplast resin which surrounds or embeds the pigment. The process includes (i) a step of subjecting an aqueous suspension of a pigment in the form of coarse particles to milling so that the coarse particles are comminuted in the presence of a polymeric dispersant to a particle diameter d(v 0.9) of below 1500 nm, as determined by laser diffraction; and (ii) a step of polycondensation of an aminoplast pre-condensate in the aqueous suspension of the comminuted particles of the pigment obtained in step (i) or during the milling of step (i). The polycondensation is performed in the presence of an acid catalyst at pH of below 5.5. The aqueous dispersion obtained by the process and the use of the aqueous dispersion for tinting waterborne liquid coating composition are also described.
DIKETOPYRROLOPYRROLE PIGMENT COMPOUND HAVING HIGH WEATHERING RESISTANCE, PREPARATION METHOD THERFOR, AND USE THEROF

##STR00001##
The described diketopyrrolopyrrole pigment compound may be directly used as a wet filter cake, or may be further formed into a flowing solid powder or granulated into a granulated preparation. In the various applications described, the diketopyrrolopyrrole pigment compound exhibits high saturation, good rheology, hiding power, and gloss, high tint strength, and particularly high weather resistance. The diketopyrrolopyrrole pigment compound having high weather resistance, the preparation method therefor and the use thereof have good market prospects.
Security pigment, luminescent polymer resin and method for producing same
The invention relates to a pigment particle for security applications, comprising a duromer matrix and a plurality of core particles of a thermoplastic polymer with a feature substance dissolved in the core particles embedded therein, wherein the feature substance is an organic or metalorganic substance. The invention further relates to a method for producing security pigments, for example luminescent printing pigments, by means of incorporation into a duromer matrix of thermoplastic polymer particles in which the luminescent illuminant is present respectively in dissolved form.
Chlorinated copper phthalocyanine pigments
It is an object of the present technology to overcome the disadvantages of conventional chlorination of a copper phthalocyanine which produces copper phthalocyanine, wherein the number of chlorines is less than than or equal to 4. The pigments described herein contain less chlorine than standard commercial grades of tetrachlorinated (or greater) copper phthalocyanine pigments while achieving similar color space, chromaticity, fastness properties, and color travel in automotive waterborne and solvent borne systems. The inventive pigments are more advantageous from a toxicity and environmental perspective, and allow the manufacturer to produce pigments in a safe and economical manner.
AQUEOUS PIGMENT DISPERSION AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING AQUEOUS PIGMENT DISPERSION
A task to be achieved by the present invention is to provide an aqueous pigment dispersion which can be used in the production of an ink having reduced coarse particles so that the ink exhibits excellent dispersibility of the pigment in the aqueous pigment dispersion and excellent storage stability on such a level that a change of the physical properties with time is unlikely to be caused. The present invention is directed to an aqueous pigment dispersion including: a pigment (A) including C.I. Pigment Orange 43(a) having a primary particle diameter of 150 nm or less; a pigment dispersing resin (B) including a radical polymerization polymer having an acid value of 80 to 150 mg KOH/g; and water (C).
Process for preparing granules of pigments by means of double extrusion
A process for the production of a particle composition containing, at least one resin and at least one pigment is described, said process comprising the following steps: *extrusion of a mixture containing said at least one resin and said at least one pigment without induced heating; *subsequent extrusion, with induced heating, of the mixture obtained from the preceding extrusion; *granulation of the mixture thus obtained. With the abovementioned process it is possible to obtain a composition having granules with an average diameter less than 2 microns and a greater homogeneity than the known processes.
