METHOD OF TREATING SLEEP DISORDERED BREATHING
A system and method for automatically implementing a therapy for treating sleep disordered breathing.
Multi-frequency impedance monitoring system
A system and method is provided to measure intrathoracic complex impedance and to identify and indicate disease conditions based on the impedance measurements. Multiple impedance vectors may be taken into account, and an optimal vector may be selected to provide the most useful impedance measurement for the identification and indication of disease conditions.
Electrical impedance measuring apparatus
An electrical impedance measuring apparatus includes: a plurality of electrodes adhered to a periphery of a chest; a potential measurer configured to perform a process of applying a current to any ones of the electrodes, and measuring potentials by means of other electrodes; an impedance acquirer, based on the applied current and the potentials measured by the potential measurer, configured to obtain an impedance of each of meshes, a chest section divided into the meshes; a histogram producer configured to set, in the chest section, at least one ROI including from a ventral side to a dorsal side, and configured to obtain a histogram of an impedance distribution in the ROI; and a producer configured to produce a color impedance distribution map in which amplitudes of the histogram are replaced with corresponding colors.
BODY-WORN MONITOR FOR MEASURING RESPIRATORY RATE
The invention provides a system for measuring respiratory rate (RR) from a patient. The system includes an impedance pneumography (IP) sensor, connected to at least two electrodes, and a processing system that receives and processes signals from the electrodes to measure an IP signal. A motion sensor (e.g. an accelerometer) measures at least one motion signal (e.g. an ACC waveform) describing movement of a portion of the patient's body to which it is attached. The processing system receives the IP and motion signals, and processes them to determine, respectfully, frequency-domain IP and motion spectra. Both spectra are then collectively processed to remove motion components from the IP spectrum and determine RR. For example, during the processing, an algorithm determines motion frequency components from the frequency-domain motion spectrum, and then using a digital filter removes these, or parameters calculated therefrom, from the IP spectrum.
APPARATUS AND METHOD OF MEASURING BIO SIGNAL
A method of measuring a bio signal using a bio signal measuring apparatus includes: positioning electrodes included as part of the bio signal measuring apparatus to contact a surface of an examinee; switching an impedance measurer included as part of the bio signal measuring apparatus and including a voltmeter and a current source; measuring a first impedance value of the examinee while operating the impedance measurer according to a first mode; switching the impedance measurer to a second mode; measuring a second impedance value of the examinee while operating the impedance measurer according to a second mode; and obtaining bio impedance of the examinee based on the first and second impedance values and an internal impedance of the current source.
LUNG FUNCTION MONITORING
A signal of a current-voltage sensor array in one embodiment is processed for output of data in a form for use by a care provider. The current-voltage sensor array in one embodiment is a non-invasive current-voltage sensor array adapted to surround a thorax of a patient. The output of data in one embodiment is provided in a lung function visualization output form that depicts functioning of a patient's lungs.
STIMULATION SUSPENSION IN RESPONSE TO PATIENT DISCOMFORT OR STATE
Systems and methods are provided for delivering neurostimulation therapies to patients. Stimulation from an implantable medical device (IMD) may be suspended in response to detecting a patient discomfort event, such as a cough, throat irritation, or voice alteration. The suspension period may be based on at least one of a severity level of the patient discomfort event and a patient physical state, such as being asleep or lying down. Detection of a patient discomfort event may be calibrated.
Inductive respiration sensor
An inductive respiration sensor (10) comprises an inductive transducer (12) and sensing circuitry. The sensing circuitry comprises a transimpedance amplifier, TIA, (14), the sense input (16) of which is operatively connected to the inductive transducer. The TIA is configured to drive a current from its output (20) into the sense input such that the voltage on the sense input follows the voltage applied to the reference input (18) and to cause a voltage on the output indicative of the current. The TIA comprises a first (34) and a second (30) transistor. The collector or drain and the emitter or source of the first transistor are operatively connected between the sense input and the output of the TIA. The emitter or source of the second transistor is connected to the reference input, the collector or drain of the second transistor is connected to the base or gate of the first transistor, and the base or gate of the second transistor is connected to the sense input.
A PHONE FOR USE IN HEALTH MONITORING
A phone comprising: a phone body, at least one sensor on the phone body for measuring a vital sign of a user when the phone is held in use; means for converting the vital sign measurement into a voice-frequency band signal; and means for transmitting the voice-frequency band signal for use in monitoring the health of the user.
TOUCH PANEL APPARATUS FOR SENSING A BIOSIGNAL AND METHOD OF ACQUIRING INFORMATION ABOUT RESPIRATION OF USER USING THE SAME
A touch panel apparatus for sensing a biosignal and a method of acquiring information about respiration of a user by the touch panel apparatus are provided. The touch panel apparatus includes a touch panel configured to sense a biosignal of a user based on a touch input through the touch panel; a detector configured to detect a respiratory signal from the biosignal; and a processor configured to acquire information about respiration of the user based on characteristics of the detected respiratory signal.
