The present invention relates to compositions for use in refrigeration, air-conditioning, and heat pump systems wherein the composition comprises a fluoroolefin and at least one other component. The compositions of the present invention are useful in processes for producing cooling or heat, as heat transfer fluids, foam blowing agents, aerosol propellants, and fire suppression and fire extinguishing agents.
TWIN-TAIL HYDROCARBON SURFACTANTS FOR FOAM COMPOSITIONS
The present disclosure generally pertains to novel water soluble oligomeric and polymeric additives derived from oligomeric and polymeric amines; esters or halides of twin tail alkyl group comprising acids with intervening quaternary ammonium groups; optionally and preferably hydrophilic group comprising compounds capable of reacting with primary, secondary or tertiary amino groups; and optionally hydrophobic group comprising compounds. The compounds of the invention are useful as additives for aqueous film forming foam agents, and can perform as partial or complete replacements for fluorosurfactants and/or fluorinated foam stabilizers in foams.
ORGANOSILOXANE COMPOUNDS AS ACTIVE INGREDIENTS IN FLUORINE FREE FIRE SUPPRESSION FOAMS
Novel organosiloxane compounds are disclosed that are useful in firefighting foams. Methods of making and using the organosiloxane compounds and foams are also described.
POLYORGANOSILOXANE COMPOUNDS AS ACTIVE INGREDIENTS IN FLUORINE FREE FIRE SUPPRESSION FOAMS
Novel polyorganosiloxane compounds are disclosed that are useful in firefighting foams. Methods of making and using the polyorganosiloxane compounds and foams are also described.
Fire fighting foaming compositions
A fire fighting composition according to the invention comprises a first surfactant selected from alkyl group-containing amphoteric surfactants, wherein the alkyl group contains at least 8 carbon atoms, and alkyl group-containing zwitterionic surfactants, wherein the alkyl group contains at least 8 carbon atoms, and mixtures thereof, and a second surfactant selected from alkyl group-containing anionic surfactants, wherein the alkyl group contains at least 8 carbon atoms, and wherein the weight ratio of the first surfactant to the second surfactant is in the range of from 3:1 to 1:1.5, wherein the fire fighting foaming composition is essential free of fluorine. Typically, the first surfactant is selected from alkyl amine oxides, betaines and N-alkyl pyrrolidones. Typically, the second surfactant is selected from alkyl sulphates, alkyl phosphates, dialkylsulphosuccinates, sodium alkyl ether sulphates and alkyl carboxylates. The compositions which are essentially-free of fluorine or fluorine-containing compounds give a good combination of fire fighting properties, such as burn back performance and extinguishing capability.
COMPOUND FLUORINE-FREE FOAM EXTINGUISHING AGENT AND PREPARATION METHOD THEREFOR
The present invention discloses a compound fluorine-free foam extinguishing agent and a preparation method therefor, comprising components of the following parts by weight: 6-8 parts of alkyl glycoside, 10-14 parts of polysiloxane quaternary ammonium salt, 0.5-1 part of silicon dioxide and 60-65 parts of water. The compound fluorine-free foam extinguishing agent prepared by the present invention has a high stability, a high expansion, an obvious fire extinguishing effect and a higher environment-friendliness. The polysiloxane quaternary ammonium salt contains hydrophobic polysiloxane long chains, has a high temperature resistance, and collaborates with the alkyl glycoside to be adsorbed on the surface of silicon dioxide particles, which improves the stability of the silicon dioxide in a solution and reduces the surface tension of the solution. The preparation method of the present invention is reasonable; by controlling the temperature and adjusting the stirring time of each component, the alkyl glycoside, the polysiloxane quaternary ammonium salt and silicon dioxide nanoparticles are fully and evenly mixed. In addition, the materials are cheap, and the resultants are safe to the environment, therefore, the present invention is a fluorine-free foam extinguishing agent with low cost and high environment-friendliness.
FIRE EXTINGUISHING COMPOSITIONS, SYSTEMS AND METHODS
Disclosed are fire extinguishants comprising from about 20% to about 80% by weight of 1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene (HFO-1233zd) and from about 20% to about 80% by weight of 1,1,1,2,2,4,5,5,5-nonafluoro-4-(trifluoromethyl)-3-pentanone (FK5-1-12), and to methods, systems and containers which use the fire extinguishants.
POST-FOAMING COMPOSITION FOR PROTECTION AGAINST FIRE AND/OR HEAT
Inert and hydrocarbon gases, such as propellant gases, maintain a pressure in a bottle to ensure that a formed composition can be dispensed to an intended destination. The carrier releases soluble hydrocarbon gases and the water drops dissolve inert gases, so the liquid is inflated and creates upstanding foam. This foam maintains the texture and water content up to 6-24 hours, depending on the ratio of the fire-resistant component. As heat reaches the foam, the heat-resistant silicate component becomes activated. Strong heat causes evaporation of the moisture of the carrier, and then the bound water of the silicates evaporates from the foam, with a honeycomb-structure left behind which is a good thermal insulator and is able to protect the object. Above approximately 350 C., a ceramic protective layer forms, while the water content of the foam inside the foam migrates outwards towards the dry crust.
SYSTEMS AND COMPOSITIONS FOR SUPPRESSING AND EXTINGUISHING FIRES
Systems and compositions for suppressing and extinguishing several classes of fire, e.g. Class D, fires are disclosed. The composition includes some form of powdered Aloe vera, a bio-surfactant, a thickening agent, and a diol. The composition may be mixed with paint to coat a structure thus protecting the structure from fire. The composition may also be mixed with epoxy resin for coating a structure also for fire protection. The composition may also be in the form of a gel in canisters for extinguishing fire.
