A torque output device includes a body with an opening in the top. A top toothed part is located beneath the opening and includes a bore located corresponding to the opening. The top toothed part includes multiple top teeth. A drive shaft secured in the body and includes a central hole in which a rod is located. A driving portion is formed to the lower end of the drive shaft. The drive shaft and the top toothed part are freely rotated relative to each other. A bottom toothed part is mounted to the drive shaft and freely moves up and down relative to the drive shaft. A resilient member is mounted to the drive shaft and biases the bottom toothed part. A pressure collar is threadedly connected to the lower end of the body to set the torque between the engagement of the top and bottom teeth.

Disposable torque-limiting mechanisms with upper shank component with a torque-limiting interface, a lower shank component with a torque-limiting interface, and a washer assembly biasing element. Torque-limiting interfaces having a plurality of undulations arranged around an axial bore or drive socket and separated by a plurality of transition regions, with each undulation having an upslope, a peak, and a downslope. The torque-limiting interfaces are configured to engage and disengage to provide torque transmission with predetermined torque limits at various rotational speeds and for amounts of actuations while remaining within a specified operational range.

A torque limiting driver system, including: a torque limiting driver including: a handle with a locking cap engagement protrusion; a shaft with a cam portion including a cam mating feature; and a locking cap including: a mating recess including a plurality of scallops along the outer edge of the mating recess and wherein the plurality of scallops are configured to interface with the first mating feature; a through-hole with through-hole mating feature configured to interface with the cam mating feature, wherein the locking cap is configured to engage the torque limiting driver to lock the rotation of the shaft with respect to the handle.

A tool including selectively operable torque-limiting mechanism is provided. The tool includes a housing, a torque-limiting mechanism disposed within the housing and including a first gear engaged with the housing and including a number of first recesses, a second gear rotatably disposed within the housing adjacent the first gear and including a number of second recesses, a number of bearings disposed between the first gear and the second gear partially within the first recesses and partially within the second recesses, and a variable force-applying assembly engaged with the first gear opposite the second gear, a drive body engaged with the second gear and extending outwardly from the housing, and a cover disposed around the housing and selectively engaged with the drive body to control the operation of the torque-limiting mechanism.
