The capping electrode contacts a portion of the second electrode in an area spaced apart from the opening of the pixel definition layer.

The display device may include a connection electrode passing through a base insulating (e.g., electrically insulating) layer and a reflective pattern connected to the connection electrode. The connection electrode may include a first conductive (e.g., electrically conductive) layer and a second conductive (e.g., electrically conductive) layer on the first conductive layer and made of a material different from that of the first conductive layer. The upper surface of the connection electrode may be continuous with the upper surface of the base insulating layer, and the upper surface of the connection electrode and the upper surface of the base insulating layer may substantially form a single plane.

Thus, a display panel and a cover member are accurately bonded to each other based on the bonding alignment key pattern in a manufacturing process of the display device. Openings in the black matrix further facilitate ambient light or temperature sensing. The arrangement helps reduce bezel size, improve panel reliability, and enhance product durability and power efficiency.
