SYSTEM FOR DISPLAYING ATTENTION TO NEARBY VEHICLES AND METHOD FOR PROVIDING AN ALARM USING THE SAME
20230045706 · 2023-02-09 ·

At least one nearby vehicle may be extracted from a vehicle vicinity image collected by a sensor equipped in the target vehicle. Lane recognition information representing which one position a position of the extracted nearby vehicle corresponds to with respect to the target vehicle, and/or vehicle position information representing a relative distance from the target vehicle to the nearby vehicle may be identified. An attention degree of the nearby vehicle may be calculated based on a speed of the nearby vehicle calculated from the relative distance and a vehicle speed of the target vehicle, the vehicle position information of the nearby vehicle, the relative distance of the nearby vehicle, the speed of the target vehicle, or any combination thereof. An alarm for the nearby vehicle may be displayed on a screen according to the calculated attention.

DEVICE FOR CONTROLLING MOTION SICKNESS, WHICH IS INTEGRATED INTO A MOTOR VEHICLE
20230007953 · 2023-01-12 ·

An anti-motion sickness device fitted to a motor vehicle including a triaxial accelerometer to detect the vehicle accelerations along three axes and to emit a corresponding acceleration signal; a display component of light markers to form at least one first and second artificial horizon lines at first and second inner surface, respectively of the motor vehicle. The device includes a control unit for receiving the acceleration signals and for driving the display wherein the artificial horizon lines are aligned in a horizontal plane perpendicular or substantially perpendicular to the gravity vector regardless of vehicle accelerations. The control unit is configured to process the acceleration signals, prior to the control of the display to determine in real time an acceleration frequency according to each of the accelerometer axes and to drive the display only when the acceleration frequency is below a threshold frequency, below which the motion sickness likely occurs.

COGNITIVE LOAD DRIVING ASSISTANT

In one embodiment, a cognitive load driving assistant increases driving safety based on cognitive loads. In operation, the cognitive load driving assistant computes a current cognitive load of a driver based on sensor data. If the current cognitive load exceeds a threshold cognitive load, then the cognitive load driving assistant modifies the driving environment to reduce the cognitive load required to perform the primary driving task and/secondary task(s), such as texting via a cellular phone. The cognitive load driving assistant may modify the driving environment indirectly via sensory feedback to the driver or directly through reducing the complexity of the primary driving task and/or secondary tasks. In particular, if the driver is exhibiting elevated cognitive loads typically associated with distracted driving, then the cognitive load driving assistant modifies the driving environment to allow the driver to devote appropriate mental resources to the primary driving task, thereby increasing driving safety.

Processing data for driving automation system

A method of processing data for a driving automation system, the method comprising steps of: obtaining sound data from a microphone of an autonomous vehicle; processing the sound data to obtain a sound characteristic; and updating a context of the autonomous vehicle based on the sound characteristic.

Vehicle occupancy-monitoring system

The techniques of this disclosure relate to a vehicle occupancy-monitoring system. The system includes a controller circuit that receives occupant data from an occupancy-monitoring sensor of a vehicle. The controller circuit determines an occupancy status of respective seats in a cabin of the vehicle based on the occupancy-monitoring sensor. The controller circuit indicates the occupancy status of the respective seats on a display located in a field of view of occupants of the vehicle. The display is integral to one of a roof light module, a door panel, or a headliner of the cabin. The system can improve passenger safety by alerting the operator and other occupants about the occupancy status of the passengers.

Vehicle display device

A vehicle display device includes a display that emits a display image to be projected onto a windshield provided to a vehicle, as display light, at least one reflecting mirror that is disposed on an optical path of the display light from the display to the windshield and reflects the display light, an optical sensor that detects external light (SL) incident from an opening through which an outside and an internal space are communicated with each other, a temperature sensor that detects a temperature of the display, a dimming member that is disposed on the optical path of the display light, and a controller that causes the dimming member to be switched between a state with a first transmissivity and a state with a second transmissivity smaller than the first transmissivity.

An anti-motion sickness device for a motor vehicle includes a triaxial accelerometer to detect vehicle accelerations along three axes and to emit a corresponding acceleration signal; a display component of light markers to form two artificial horizon lines at two inner surfaces, respectively of the vehicle. The horizon lines are perpendicular or substantially perpendicular to each other. The device includes a control unit for receiving the acceleration signals emitted by the accelerometer and capable of driving the display component such that the horizon lines are aligned in a horizontal plane, perpendicular or substantially perpendicular to the gravity vector regardless of vehicle accelerations. The position of the horizontal plane along a direction parallel to the gravity vector varies as a function of a physical parameter related to the person sitting in the vehicle by being positioned adjacent the first inner surface and in front of the second inner surface.

Redundant vehicle controls based on user presence and position

Redundant vehicle controls based on user presence and position are disclosed herein. A method can include determining a presence and a position of a driver in a sensing zone of a vehicle using a sensor platform integrated into the vehicle. The sensing zone is associated with a primary driving interface of the vehicle. Determining when the position of the driver indicates that the driver is not in a fully-seated position relative to a driver's seat of the vehicle, and that the vehicle is in a non-seated drive mode where the driver is permitted to operate the vehicle while not being in the fully-seated position. Activating a secondary driving interface of the vehicle when the driver is not in a fully-seated position and the vehicle is in the selected driving mode. The secondary driving interface can be used in combination with the primary driving interface.
