FACILITATED COMPARISON OF GEMSTONES
Methods and systems are provided for facilitating comparison of gemstones having multiple attributes that characterize the gemstones. A facilitated comparison system receives from a user a selection of a gemstone in a collection of the gemstones. Each gemstone in the collection is associated with a selling index indicating a probability of the gemstone being bought by a customer. For each of a predetermined set of the attributes, the system determines one or more comparable ranges. The system identifies alternate gemstones to recommend using the comparable ranges for the attributes and the selling indices of the gemstones. The system displays to the user the selected gemstone and one or more of the alternate gemstones for comparison.
Apparatus and method for fluorescence grading of gemstones
Provided herein is an apparatus for assessing a fluorescence characteristic of a gemstone. The apparatus comprises an optically opaque platform for supporting a gemstone to be assessed, one or more light source to provide uniform UV and non-UV illumination, an image capturing component, and a telecentric lens positioned to provide fluorescent images of the illuminated gemstone to the image capturing component. Also provided are methods of fluorescence analysis based on images collected using such an apparatus.
Gemstone handling and analysis system
A gemstone cleaning and analysis system and a method for cleaning and analyzing one or more gemstones using the system. The system includes a platform and an automated positioning system connected to the platform. The automated positioning system selects a gemstone from a plurality of gemstones, deposits the gemstone onto a cleaning stand connected to the platform, cleans at least one side of the gemstone by rubbing at least one side of the gemstone with at least one cleaning tool, and moves the gemstone to a gemstone imaging device connected to the platform. The gemstone imaging device has a plate, and the automated positioning system deposits the gemstone onto the plate. The gemstone imaging device identifies the gemstone. The automated positioning system moves the gemstone to a holding plate that is connected to the platform and deposits the gemstone at a particular location of the holding plate.
IDENTIFYING AND GRADING DIAMONDS
A method for generating a highly distinctive signature of a certain diamond, the method may include generating, based on one or more images of the certain diamond, a certain diamond signature of the certain diamond; finding, out of a group of reference diamonds, other diamonds having other diamond signatures; wherein the finding comprises calculating similarities between the certain diamond signature and reference diamond signatures of the reference diamonds of the group; and generating a new certain diamond signature that significantly differs from signatures of the other diamonds.
Block made of a building material
A building structure includes a block of building material and a magnetic circuit buried in the block of building material. The structure also includes a plurality of sensing devices buried in the block of building material. Each sensing device may include a contactless power supplying circuit magnetically coupled with the magnetic circuit to generate a supply voltage when the magnetic circuit is subject to a variable magnetic field.
GEMSTONE TESTING APPARATUS
The application provides an improved gemstone testing apparatus for testing a gemstone specimen. The gemstone testing apparatus includes a handheld casing, a processor unit, a first gemstone test device, a second gemstone test device, and a display unit. The first gemstone test device includes a first test probe and a thermal conductivity test module. The second gemstone test device includes a second test probe and a light absorption module.

IMPROVED METHOD FOR ANALYSING A GEMSTONE
A method of analysing an at least partially transparent object, such as a gemstone, includes fixing the object in a holder; immersing the object in the holder in an immersion material; and analysing internal and/or external features of the object. Analysing comprises visualizing an internal and/or external portion of the object using light rays while the object is immersed in the immersion material, and determining characteristics of the object based on the visualized internal and/or external portion of the object. During the analysing step, the difference between the refractive index (RI) of the immersion material and the RI of at least an immersed portion of the holder, which is in contact with the object, is less than 0.3.
GEMSTONE TESTING APPARATUS
The application provides a gemstone testing apparatus for testing a specimen. The gemstone testing apparatus includes a handheld casing, a plurality of light sources, a test probe, a photodetector, a processor unit, and a display unit. The test probe is placed at one end of the handheld casing. A first end of the test probe is placed outside the handheld casing. The plurality of light sources is provided for emitting light rays towards an area that is in the vicinity of the first end. The first end is adapted for receiving light rays from the specimen and for transmitting the light rays to a second end of the test probe. The photodetector is arranged to measure an intensity of the light rays from the second end. The processor unit is provided for determining a material of the specimen in accordance to a measurement of the intensity of the light rays.
GEMSTONE VERIFICATION
Examples of gemstone verification are described herein. In one example, for processing a gemstone, pre-stored marking coordinates associated with a gemstone ID are obtained, the pre-stored marking coordinates generated during planning phase of the processing. Further, real-time marking coordinates for the gemstone to be processed are also obtained. An identity of the gemstone is verified based on a comparison of the pre-stored marking coordinates with the real-time marking coordinates. Further, information, including cutting parameters, associated with the gemstone ID of the gemstone is retrieved in response to a valid verification of the identity of the gemstone, for processing the gemstone.
