The first sensor set is located at a first location on the vehicle, the second sensor set is located at a second location on the vehicle, and the second location is different from the first location.

WAYSIDE TO RAILWAY VEHICLE COMMUNICATION METHOD AND DEVICE

A wayside to railway vehicle communication method including providing a first wayside device with a transmitter device capable of transmitting a data packet message to a railway vehicle traveling along a section of a railway track, through an electric waveform put into a rail of the section, and sending at least one message from the transmitter device to the railway vehicle, wherein the at least one message corresponds to the conversion of the data packet into a modulated electric waveform, the data packet including several data bits providing information relative to a plurality of speed limits the railway vehicle has to respect while traveling along respective portions of the section.

A system and method for vehicle compartment item presence indication senses an item within a vehicle compartment and notifies a user if the item is expected or unexpected within the compartment based on a vehicle state. Should the item be expected in a compartment during a phase of flight where the compartment is expected to contain items, there is no abnormal indication. However, if a compartment is expected to be empty during a specific phase of flight and the sensors indicate an item is present, the system will alert the user to the unexpected item.

METHOD, SYSTEM, AND COMPUTER-READABLE MEDIUM COMPRISING SOFTWARE CODE FOR COMMUNICATING DATA FROM A TRANSMITTER TO A RECEIVER VIA A PHYSICAL TRANSMISSION MEDIUM, AND RELATED RAILWAY TRACK CIRCUIT
20210146972 · 2021-05-20 ·

Method and system for communicating data between a transmitter and a receiver via a physical transmission medium interposed there between, wherein the transmitter outputs over the transmission medium towards the receiver, a predefined precursor signal followed by a target signal carrying data packet. Based on the precursor signal received at the receiver, estimated values of actual electrical parameters of the physical transmission medium are computed via a predetermined model of the physical transmission medium, wherein the computed estimated values of the electrical parameters are indicative of a distortion caused by the physical transmission medium on the predefined precursor signal outputted by the transmitter. The data packets originally outputted by the transmitter are estimated based on the computed estimated values of the actual electrical parameters and on the target signal received at the receiver.

A transmission device includes a pair of terminals connected to an electrical coupler via a pair of signal lines, a transmission unit connected to the pair of terminals via a pair of capacitors, a direct-current (DC) power supply connected in series between the pair of terminals without interposition of the pair of capacitors, and switches disposed on opposite sides of the DC power supply. A transmission device includes a pair of terminals connected to an electrical coupler via a pair of signal lines, a reception unit connected to the pair of terminals via a pair of capacitors, a load resistor and inductances connected in series between the pair of terminals without interposition of the pair of capacitors.

Vehicle control system

A control system includes a controller configured to control communication between or among plural vehicle devices that control operation of a vehicle via a network that communicatively couples the vehicle devices. The controller also is configured to control the communication using a data distribution service (DDS) and with the network operating as a time sensitive network (TSN). The controller is configured to direct a first set of the vehicle devices to communicate using time sensitive communications, a different, second set of the vehicle devices to communicate using best effort communications, and a different, third set of the vehicle devices to communicate using rate constrained communications.

Vehicle data communication system

A locomotive communication system includes a wireless communication device and a controller that controls operation of the wireless communication device. The controller directs the wireless communication device to switch between operating in an off-board communication mode and operating in an onboard communication mode. The wireless communication device communicates a remote data signal with an off-board location while the wireless communication device is operating in the off-board communication mode and the wireless communication device communicates a local data signal between the propulsion-generating vehicles of the vehicle system while the wireless communication device is operating in the onboard communication mode.

Vehicle convoy control system and method

A convoy management system and method determine determining an inter-vehicle spacing in a convoy formed from two or more vehicles traveling together along one or more routes. Controllers onboard the two or more vehicles are instructed to automatically change movement of at least one of the vehicles in the convoy to maintain the inter-vehicle spacing. The inter vehicle spacing is dynamically changed during movement of the convoy along the one or more routes.

POWER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR A CONSIST

A first locomotive that includes a control unit is disclosed. The control unit may receive a power demand, determine a first power limit of the first locomotive, and receive a second power limit of a second locomotive and a third power limit of a third locomotive. The control unit may proportion the power demand into a first power allocation for the first locomotive, a second power allocation for the second locomotive, and a third power allocation for the third locomotive. The control unit may adjust the first power allocation based on the first power limit, adjust the second power allocation based on the second power limit, and adjust the third power allocation based on the third power limit. The control unit may cause an action to be performed in connection with the first power allocation, the second power allocation, and the third power allocation.
