RAILWAY SAFETY NOTIFICATION SYSTEM AND DEVICE WITH TRACK AND DIRECTION INFORMATION
Systems and devices that will notify train system maintenance workers of an approaching vehicle and, conversely, will notify the operators and administrators of train systems of train system maintenance workers within the vicinity of an approaching section of track. Embodiments of the safety systems and methods disclosed herein may use track and direction information and/or LiDAR to assist in determining vehicle positioning and/or speed particularly where there are two or more possible tracks or vehicle paths in close proximity to each other.
Support frames and rail cars for conveying bulk materials on a rail transport system
Support frames and rail cars include first and second side drive plates, first and second cross members connecting the respective ends of the side drive plates, third and fourth cross members connecting the side drive plates at a select distance from the first and second cross members, a coupling assembly situated at the first cross member and adapted to connect another rail car thereto, and first and second diagonal support members connected to the first cross member at an angle sufficient to substantially direct forces from the coupling assembly to the third cross member and side drive plates. The support frames and rail cars may be used for conveying bulk materials on a rail transport system.
Automatic train protection method, vehicle on-board controller and train based on vehicle-vehicle communication
The present invention provides an automatic train protection method, a vehicle on-board controller and a train based on vehicle-vehicle communication. The method includes: after a present train runs onto a main track, determining an OC with which the present train needs to establish communication; communicating, by the present train, with the OC to obtain train identifiers of all trains within the jurisdiction of the OC; respectively communicating, by the present train, with the train corresponding to each train identifier to obtain current running information of the train corresponding to each train identifier; identifying a front communication neighbor train of the present train; determining that no hidden train exists between the present train and the front communication neighbor train; and calculating current movement authority MA of the present train according to the current position information of the present train and of the front communication neighbor train.
Automated testing and reporting of timely activation of crossing warning equipment based on data originated from a real-time train tracking system
A railroad system including a wayside inspector system responsive to data originated from a real-time train tracking system, such as GPS or PTC is provided. The data from the real-time train tracking system includes data indicative of a respective train en route to a respective crossing. The data is further indicative of a respective direction of travel on a respective railway track of the respective train en route to the respective crossing. Disclosed embodiments offer a technical solution involving no physical sensing devices on the railway tracks for detection of the respective train en route to the respective crossing. This solution is effective for automated testing and reporting of timely activation of crossing warning equipment based on the data originated from the real-time train tracking system.
WIRELESS VEHICLE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
A transportation system is provided. The system includes: a highway vehicle, a first set of highway points located along a path of the vehicle, a second set of highway points located along a traffic signal section, at least one RFID tag located at each of the first set and the second set of highway points, and at least one RFID tag reader located on the highway vehicle connected to a network. The at least one RFID tag located at the first set of highway points is configured to store dynamic and static characteristics of the highway vehicle as it passes the first set of highway points and the at least one RFID tag located at the second set of highway points is configured to store dynamic and static characteristics of the vehicle as it passes the second set of highway points.
RAILROAD CAR LOCATION, SPEED, AND HEADING DETECTION SYSTEM AND METHODS WITH SELF-POWERED WIRELESS SENSOR NODES
A railroad car location, speed and heading sensor system including at least one self-powered, tie-mounted sensor node that is applicable universally to different railroad settings without using track circuits, inductive loops, radar systems, and wheel counters and associated disadvantages. Reliable and relatively low cost deterministic and redundant car presence detection is realized when multiple sensor nodes are arranged in a network, which may be a wireless mesh network, that is not affected by environmental conditions.
Train information management device and door control system
A train information management device sends and receives information to and from both a train-controlling in-vehicle wireless station for controlling an operation of a train, and a door-controlling in-vehicle wireless station for controlling vehicle doors. The device includes a wireless train control unit, an automatic operation unit, and a door control unit. The wireless train control unit receives route information represented by a consecutive block sequence and information on a stop limit location that the train may reach without hindering a preceding train, and if this route information includes a station block number, consults an in-vehicle database to extract, before the train arrives at a platform, an arrival track where the train is to stop, a stop target location at a stop station dependent on a travel direction of the train, and which of the vehicle doors is to be opened, and stops the train in accordance with the route information.
Wireless train management system
A robust system processor comprising three parallel processors, each configured to process in parallel an input and emit an output; and a reconciler that compares the three outputs, determines whether at least two of the outputs are equal, and if so validates the majority output and communicates the validated output via a network to at least one other system processor.
System and method for early train detection
Train detection security system and method for detecting a moving train are provided. The train detection security system includes one or more sensor units fixed to a rail of a rail track. The sensor units are arranged for detecting a first signal induced by a moving train and propagated through the rail. The system further includes a control unit including a signal processor arranged for receiving first sensor output signals representing the first signals from each of the one or more sensor units, processing the first sensor output signals and generating a train warning signal representing characteristics of the moving train based on envelope characteristics of the first sensor output signals.
TRAIN CONTROL METHOD, APPARATUS, AND SYSTEM
A train control method is provided for a vehicle on-board controller (VOBC) configured on one end of a train. The method includes: performing a train awakening process; acquiring a running plan sent by an automatic train supervision (ATS) system after the train is successfully awakened; setting, according to a direction indicated by the running plan, a running direction of the train to be downward or upward; when the running direction is set to downward, using, as a head for train positioning, one end of the train not configured with the VOBC, to acquire positioning information of the train; when the running direction is set to upward, using, as the head for train positioning, one end of the train configured with the VOBC, to acquire the positioning information of the train; and controlling, according to the positioning information of the train, the train to pull out of a parking garage.
