Receiver method and apparatus for variable header repetition in a wireless OFDM network
10079707 · 2018-09-18 · ·

A method and apparatus for use within a wireless OFDM network that receives a first packet type and a second packet type. The first packet type has a header field with two parts with each part comprising a different set of header bits. The two parts of the header field are received using two OFDM symbols. The second packet type has a header field with four parts with the first and second parts comprising the same first set of header bits and the third and the fourth part comprising the same second set of header bits. The four parts of the header field are received using four OFDM symbols. The second packet type provides more reliable reception than the first packet type.

Negative differential resistance (NDR) device based on fast diffusive metal atoms

A negative differential resistance (NDR) device for non-volatile memory cells in crossbar arrays is provided. Each non-volatile memory cell is situated at a crosspoint of the array. Each non-volatile memory cell comprises a switching layer in series with an NDR material containing fast diffusive atoms that are electrochemically inactive. The switching layer is positioned between two elec-trodes.

Rectifier for Electromagnetic Radiation
20180040820 · 2018-02-08 ·

A rectifier is provided for converting an oscillating electromagnetic field into a direct current and comprises an electrically conductive antenna layer configured to absorb electromagnetic radiation, an electrically conductive mirror layer configured to provide an electromagnetic mirror charge of the antenna layer, an electrically insulating tunnel barrier layer positioned between the antenna layer and the mirror layer, and an electronic circuit electrically connected between the conductive mirror layer and the conductive antenna layer. The rectifier employs a metamaterial configuration for room temperature rectification of radiation in regions of the electromagnetic spectrum comprising the MWIR and LWIR regions. Methods for use of the rectifier in rectifying and detecting radiation are described.
