Golf shot tracking system

A golf tracking system including a tag coupled to a golf club. The tag includes a plurality of sensors, each which output a signal based on a detected movement of the golf club, a microcontroller that compares each of the plurality of sensor outputs to stored reference sensor output values, and a transceiver that transmits data corresponding to the sensor outputs to a device remote from the tag based on the comparison performed by the microcontroller. The location-aware device then processes the information received from the tag to determine whether a shot should be registered.

A golf club tracking assembly includes a plurality of golf clubs and a golf bag for storing the golf clubs. A personal electronic device is provided that has wireless communication capabilities. A plurality of tracking units is each attached to a respective one of the golf clubs. A base unit is integrated into the golf bag and the base unit is in remote communication with the personal electronic device thereby facilitating the personal electronic device to download the number of tracking units that is assigned to the golf bag. The base unit is in remote communication with each of the tracking units and the base unit generates an alert when the base unit ceases communicating with any of the tracking units. In this way a user is alerted that one or more golf clubs is missing from the golf bag to inhibit the golf clubs from being lost or misplaced.

Golf club having sensor unit

Provided is a sensitive golf club with a sensor unit. The sensor unit includes a battery, a sensor module configured to measure sensor data indicating a state of the golf club using power from the battery, a communications unit configured to wirelessly transmit the sensor data to an external device using power from the battery, and a control unit configured to control operation of the sensor module and the communications unit using power from the battery. The sensor unit has an A mode, and a B mode in which operation of the communications unit is suppressed compared to the A mode. The control unit is configured to judge whether or not the golf club is prepared for a shot based on the sensor data, and switch between the A mode and B mode based on whether or not the golf club is prepared for a shot.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR IDENTIFYING MISPLACED GOLF CLUBS

Disclosed herein are systems and methods for determining when one or more golf clubs are in use or in a golf bag. Alerts can be provided if it is determined that the golfer has misplaced one or more golf clubs. The disclosed systems and methods can also be used to determine whether other objects have been misplaced from a typical storage container.

A golf club tracking system for tracking the removal and replacement of golf clubs relative to a golf bag by a golfer includes: one or more golf club tags associated with one or more of the golf clubs; a golfer tag associated with the golfer; a base detector associated with the golf bag including processor in electronic communication with an antenna for detecting proximity of the one or more golf club tags and the golfer tag with the base detector. When the golfer tag is within a desired proximity of the base detector, the one or more golf club tags are inventoried to determine a number of golf club tags in proximity to the base detector. When fewer than all of the one or more golf club tags are determined to be within proximity to the base detector, the base detector generates an alert.
