STEERING COLUMN FOR A MOTOR VEHICLE
20210188352 · 2021-06-24 · ·

A steering column for a motor vehicle having a steering shaft mounted in a steering column tube so as to be rotatable about a longitudinal axis and a damping device. The damping device has an element which is stationary in relation to the steering column tube and a rotatable element which is coupled in terms of rotation to the steering shaft. The rotatable element is rotatable relative to the stationary element about an axis of rotation. A damping fluid is arranged between the rotatable and the stationary element. The steering column thus permits operationally reliable damping of the steering shaft in a steering system. At least two surfaces of the rotatable element are provided, which are parallel to the axis of rotation, are in contact with the damping fluid, and are arranged so as to be spaced apart coaxially from one another.

IMPROVEMENTS TO STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLIES

A telescopic steering column assembly comprises a telescopic shroud having an inner shroud portion and an outer shroud portion, and a telescopic steering shaft that passes through the shroud, comprising an inner shaft portion and an outer shaft portion. The telescopic steering shaft is supported by the shroud through a support assembly interposed between the outer shaft portion and the inner shroud portion, which in use, limits or removes free play between the telescopic steering shaft and the shroud that would otherwise occur in at least one direction orthogonal to the telescopic movement.

A steering column device includes a male screw shaft member supported by an outer column and a female screw member provided in a link member. The female screw member and the male screw shaft member are moved relative to each other by rotation of the male screw shaft member, causing the link member to swing relative to the outer column. The female screw member includes a main body section supported by the link member, a fragile section provided on one side of the main body section, and a screw engaging section provided on the opposite side of the fragile section from the main body section. In a state where an adjust nut is screwed to the screw engaging section, a distal end portion of the adjust nut comes into contact with the main body section and extends the fragile section in the axial direction of the male screw shaft member.

An electromagnetic damping system for a steering system includes a pinion gear having a pinion shaft and engaged with a steering rack. The electromagnetic damping system also includes a friction disk operatively coupled to the pinion shaft. The electromagnetic damping system further includes an electromagnetic clutch located adjacent the friction disk, the electromagnetic clutch disposed in a spaced position relative to the friction disk in a first condition of the electromagnetic clutch, the electromagnetic clutch disposed in a contact position relative to the friction disk in a second condition of the electromagnetic clutch to damp the rate of movement of the steering rack.

VEHICLE ACTIVE VIBRATION CONTROL SYSTEM AND METHOD

A vehicle vibration control system (VCS) includes a vehicle having at least an engine, a transmission, a frame, a steering column with a steering wheel attached, a passenger cabin, and a controller area network (CAN) bus. The vibration and noise in the cabin and in or around steering column are bothersome to passengers in the passenger cabin. Linear force generators (LFGs) are used to control the noise and vibration in or around the steering column and/or steering wheel. Circular force generators (CFGs) are used to control noise and vibration in the passenger cabin. Sensors are used to measure the noise and vibration.

An inner shaft of a steering device and an outer shaft thereof are provided so as to be movable relative to each other via a movement mechanism along an axial line. The inner shaft includes a first abutting member and a second abutting member which are disposed along the axial line and which have different hardness. The outer shaft includes a torque transmitting portion which abuts either the first abutting member or the second abutting member only upon operation given to the movement mechanism, and which is capable of transmitting torque with either the one abutting member only. The movement mechanism includes a movement mechanism main body which is provided on the main pipe and which moves along the axial line.

Steering column assembly for vehicle

A steering column assembly for a vehicle may include a buffer structure provided between a steering housing and a steering shaft inserted into the steering housing to distribute vibration applied thereto and to compensate for the distortion of the steering shaft and a clearance of the steering shaft with the steering housing, wherein a support structure is also provided to secure the support performance of the steering housing with respect to a mounting bracket in the event of a tilt and a longitudinal motion of the steering housing, ensuring the horizontal rigidity of the steering housing and reducing vibration applied thereto.

Cowl cross bar for vehicle

A cowl cross bar for a vehicle comprising a main cross bar disposed in front of a driver's seat in a transverse direction of the vehicle, a sub-cross bar disposed in front of a passenger seat in the transverse direction of the vehicle, and a center supporter configured to couple the main cross bar and the sub-cross bar to each other such that diametric centers thereof are disposed eccentrically relative to each other, the center supporter may include a main center support bracket provided with a connector to which a longitudinal end of the sub-cross bar is fixed, and a sub-center support bracket fixed to the main center support bracket, and having an insert hole through which a longitudinal end of the main cross bar is fixed to the sub-center support bracket.
