A method for producing a lower part of a rear spoiler of a motor vehicle includes providing at least one insert part and fibers, arranging the fibers and the at least one insert part in a mold, and incorporating a matrix into the mold. The method further includes molding the lower part of the rear spoiler in the mold, wherein the insert parts are laminated into the structure of the lower part, and milling the insert part after the molding of the lower part.

A structural automotive sub frame component (10) that is formed from a sheet molding compound having carbon fibers. The three dimensional structure is formed of a resin fiber mixture having a resin material infused with carbon fibers having a length of about 12.5 mm (0.5 inches) dispersed throughout the structural automotive sub frame component (10) and an even manner such that there are no resin rich areas or knit lines present. The absence of knit lines provides a structural automotive sub frame component (10) that has a high degree of flex modulus, tensile strength properties well also providing a greater breaking load property due to the absence of knit lines.

The reinforcement element has an insert element having a longitudinal axis constructed to be arranged in the elongate opening. The insert element has first and second portions. The first portions are parallel with a first plane. The insert element longitudinal axis is in this first plane. The second portions are parallel with a second plane. The insert element longitudinal axis is in the second plane. The reinforcement element has a first adhesive which can be arranged on the carrier outer side and on a first group of insert element first portions and to bond the carrier and insert element in the structural element. The reinforcement element has a second adhesive which can be arranged on a second group of insert element first portions and to bond the insert element in the carrier.

The reinforcing element comprises at least one orifice, and the envelope comprises at least one external part including a segment passing through said orifice and a covering part locally covering one edge of the orifice on an outer face of the reinforcing element.
