SYSTEM AND METHOD OF ILLUMINATING A CARGO AREA OF A MOTOR VEHICLE

An illumination system for illuminating a cargo area of a motor vehicle includes a displaceable floor panel, a lift point on the floor panel, a first light source configured to illuminate that lift point and a second light source configured to illuminate a spare tire and tools contained in a well below the floor panel and a third light that illuminates a warning image located on the face oriented toward the rear of the motor vehicle when the floor panel is raised from the well.

A tire lift assembly including a body and a pair of moveable arms is provided. The body may include two handles. Each of the moveable arms extends from the body. Each arm may have an end to grasp a vehicle tire when in a first position and to release the vehicle tire when in a second position. Each of the movable arms may extend from the body at a living hinge to facilitate movement of each of the moveable arms. The body may be of a flexible material to facilitate movement of each of the pair of moveable arms. The body may further define a pair of handle through-holes. Each of the pair of handle through-holes may be located adjacent one of the two handles. Each of the pair of handle through-holes may be located adjacent a living hinge to facilitate pivotal movement of each of the moveable arms.

A tire lift assembly including a body and a pair of moveable arms is provided. The body may include two handles. Each of the moveable arms extends from the body. Each arm may have an end to grasp a vehicle tire when in a first position and to release the vehicle tire when in a second position. Each of the movable arms may extend from the body at a living hinge to facilitate movement of each of the moveable arms. The tire-removal feature includes a body having a first end and a second end. The first end is configured to be permanently fastened to a first portion of the tire well. The second end is configured to be releasably fastened to a second portion of the tire well. Moreover, the tire-removal feature is configured to substantially remove the vehicle tire from the tire well when the second end is released and extended away from the second portion of the tire well such that the body becomes substantially inflexible.
