A training bicycle with a removably attachable pedal unit enabling adjustment of chain slack by a simple method is provided. The detachable pedal unit is configured to enable attachable/detachable connection of a pedal crank to a bicycle body. The pedal unit includes a unit body having a unit connector for rotatably retaining and fastening to a bicycle body a pedal crank axially supporting a chain wheel. A unit receiving member fixedly installed on the bicycle body to interconnect with the unit connector. A sliding adjustment mechanism provided on the unit receiving member and the unit connector to vary and fix mutual fore-aft connection position of the unit receiving member and the unit connector in order to adjust fore-aft connection position of the bicycle detachable pedal unit relative to the bicycle body and thereby adjusting the chain tension.

The drive unit can include a gearbox that may enclose components which form at least part of a first power path between the pedal assembly and the driven wheel and a second power path between the motor assembly and the driven wheel. The first and second power paths can converge at a component within the gearbox. One-way bearings at points in the first and second power paths prior to the convergence of the power paths can inhibit or prevent the pedal assembly from being affected by operation of the motor assembly, and vice versa.

A securing device for securing a mid-mount motor of an electric bicycle includes a casing composed of a first part and a second part which is snugly mounted to the first part by locking members. The motor is accommodated in a room of the casing. The second part includes an end face facing the first part. A slot is formed in the second part and has a hole formed in the inner bottom of the slot. A locking member extends through a flange of the first part and the hole in the second part, and is connected to a nut located in the slot. The nut does not rotate to ensure that the first and second parts are securely connected with each other. The heat from the motor is transferred to the bike frame. Multiple deformation sensors are installed to the casing to provide precise detection data to the processor.
