COMPREHENSIVE SYSTEM FOR THE STORAGE AND TRANSPORTATION OF NATURAL GAS IN A LIGHT HYDROCARBON LIQUID MEDIUM

This invention provides a means of loading, processing and conditioning raw production gas, production of CGL, storage, transport, and delivery of pipeline quality natural gas or fractionated products to market. The CGL transport vessel utilizes a pipe based containment system to hold more densely packed constituents of natural gas held within a light hydrocarbon solvent than it is possible to attain for natural gas alone under such conditions. The containment system is supported by process systems for loading and transporting the natural gas as a liquid and unloading the CGL from the containment system and then offloading it in the gaseous state. The system can also be utilized for the selective storage and transport of NGLs to provide a total service package for the movement of natural gas and associated gas production. The mode of storage is suited for both marine and land transportation and configured in modular form to suit a particular application and/or scale of operation.

Monitoring system and method for vessel mooring with position and yaw, roll, and pitch rotational motion

The present disclosure provides a system and method for monitoring a floating vessel hull mooring system by determining one or more hull rotational motions of yaw, roll, and/or pitch that do not require independent knowledge of environmental conditions. The hull rotational motion of a secure and intact mooring system can be calculated and/or established experientially over time by measuring movement of the hull to characterize the hull rotational motion at given geographical positions. A compromised mooring system will result in different hull rotational motion of at least one of yaw, roll, and/or pitch. By monitoring the hull rotational motion for a given geographical position to be compared to the theoretical values (and/or previous recorded values), it is then possible to assess that at least a portion of the mooring system has been compromised and in at some embodiment indicate which portion of the mooring system has been compromised.

A marine vessel and method for carbon capture and sequestration are described. The marine vessel includes a buoyant hull, a cryogenic storage tank within the hull, and a gaseous carbon dioxide loading manifold. The marine vessel also includes a carbon dioxide liquefaction system in fluid communication with the cryogenic storage tank downstream of the carbon dioxide liquefaction system and with the gaseous carbon dioxide loading manifold upstream of the carbon dioxide liquefaction system. Finally, the marine vessel includes a carbon dioxide supercritical system in fluid communication with the cryogenic storage tank. In operation, the marine vessel moves between multiple locations, where gaseous carbon dioxide is onboarded, liquified and stored. Thereafter, the marine vessel transports the liquified carbon dioxide to a location adjacent an offshore geological reservoir. The liquefied carbon dioxide is then pressurized to produce supercritical carbon dioxide, which is then injected directly into the reservoir from the marine vessel.

Therefore, the main hull and the bottom base of the floating dockable liquefied natural gas supply station can be assembled in a modular manner. It is possible to individually construct the main hull and bottom base of the floating dockable liquefied natural gas supply station, and to then use a modular method for connecting and assembling same on the ocean or on land, thus being able to flexibly form various types and dimensions of supply station, allowing for docking transport vessels accommodating various loading capacities of liquefied natural gas (LNG), and reducing the construction cost thereof.
