A cell site with a landing zone for an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) includes a cell tower including cell site components for wireless service; a cabinet or shelter with equipment for the wireless service; and one or more landing zones defined at the cell site for the UAV with associated structure for each of the one or more landing zones, equipment for one or more purposes associated with the UAV, and access privileges to the cell site for personnel associated with the UAV, wherein the one or more landing zones are located on one or more of the cell tower, the cabinet or shelter, and surrounding geography around the cell tower.
Laser Cleaning Apparatus and Method
Laser cleaning apparatus (100) comprising: a laser system (102) configured to output laser light having a power, a wavelength, a temporal characteristic and a divergence; a delivery cable (106) to deliver the laser light to a cleaning head; a cleaning head (110) comprising: an output aperture and output optics (116) configured to focus the laser light (104) to have a fluence at a focal plane (126) that is greater than an ablation threshold of a surface contaminant to be removed from a surface to be cleaned; scanning apparatus (118) to scan the laser light in at least one dimension across a scan region within the focal plane to cause the scanning laser light to have an effective divergence greater than the divergence of the laser light and to have a corresponding safe working distance from the output aperture determined by the effective divergence, the power, the wavelength and the temporal characteristic; and scan monitoring apparatus (120) to monitor the effective divergence of the scanning laser light and to generate an alarm signal (108) in response to determining that the effective divergence has changed.
DEPLOYABLE EMERGENCY SITUATION AWARENESS SUPPORT SYSTEM
A deployable device mountable on a carrier vehicle and configured to collect situation awareness data. The deployable device includes at least one recorder device configured to collect situation awareness data. The deployable device is capable of being ejected from the carrier vehicle and can be configured to operate as a vehicle and/or be towed by the carrier vehicle. The deployable device can continue collection of situation awareness data after being ejected.
Relay drone system
Systems and methods are provided for a network of relay drones utilized as a set of relays or linkages between a base station and a working drone controlled by the base station. The relay drones in the network may augment a communication link or communication signal between the base station and working drone. Relay drones may augment the communication link by acting as nodes that relay communication between the base station and the working drone by boosting the communication signal at each node to compensate for loss of signal power over a traveled distance and/or providing a path with a direct line of sight between the base station and working drone. Directional antennas may be utilized when a direct line of sight is established, which may improve communication signal efficacy when compared with omnidirectional antennas.
AERODYNAMICALLY SHAPED, ACTIVE TOWED BODY
An aerodynamically shaped, active towed body includes a fuselage curved along its vertical and horizontal longitudinal plane. The fuselage has a unit chamber and a load chamber. A transverse plane of the fuselage is triangular, two upper corners being located on an upper face of the fuselage and a lower corner being located on a lower face of the fuselage. Each of two wings is subdivided into a small and a large segment. The small segment points downwards and is attached to the fuselage in a region of the lower corner and the large segment points upwards and is attached to the small segment. Each of the small segments comprise an additional load chamber. The towed body further includes a tail fin, rudders that are each adjustable by the control device and a coupling for the towing cable.
Methods of Dynamically Controlling Airflow Behind a Carrier Aircraft to Redirect Air Flow During an In-flight Recovery of an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle and an Apparatus Therefor
An apparatus is provided for dynamically controlling airflow behind a carrier aircraft to redirect air flow during an in-flight recovery of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The apparatus comprises a frame attached to an end portion of an arm member extending from the carrier aircraft. The apparatus comprises a plurality of vanes disposed within the frame. Each vane is controllable between an opened position and a closed position to dynamically modify the airflow behind the carrier aircraft during the in-flight recovery of the UAV. Alternatively, or in addition to, the apparatus comprises a plurality of compressed air jets disposed on the frame, wherein each jet is controllable to provide active airflow to dynamically modify the airflow behind the carrier aircraft during the in-flight recovery of the UAV.

A ground station for an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) includes a box assembly, a hatch assembly, and a landing pad assembly. The hatch assembly is pivotably coupled to the box assembly. The landing pad assembly is movably coupled to the box assembly and is movably coupled to the hatch assembly.

Systems and methods are provided for a wiring harness for an aerial vehicle. A wing of the aerial vehicle comprises a pocket for insertion of the wiring harness. The wiring harness provides wiring and associated connections capable to attach to and power various components.
SUSPENDED AERIAL VEHICLE SYSTEM WITH THRUSTER STABILIZATION
A suspended aerial vehicle system includes an aerial vehicle with a thruster assembly and a supporting line attached to the aerial vehicle that is capable of supporting at least some of the weight of the aerial vehicle. The supporting line may have an adjustable length which when varied, and in coordination with variations in a thrust characteristic of the aerial vehicle, may change the position of the aerial vehicle. Other aspects are also described and claimed.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PROVIDING ELECTRICAL POWER TO A TETHERED AERIAL VEHICLE
An aerial vehicle electrical power system for use with a tethered aerial vehicle, and related methods are provided. The aerial vehicle electric power system includes a plurality of light-emitting diodes (LED) carried by an aerial vehicle. At least one electrical circuit is carried by the aerial vehicle. The at least one electrical circuit has a DC buck converter electrically in series with at least a portion of the plurality of LEDs. A tether is connected between the aerial vehicle and a power source positioned remote from the aerial vehicle. Electrical power is transmitted to the aerial vehicle and at least a portion of the plurality of LEDs through the tether. The electrical circuit minimizes variances in power supplied to the aerial vehicle and the plurality of LEDs.
