A holding system for a wheelchair in an aircraft is proposed, including a plate-shaped base unit having first fastening elements at an underside configured to be connected to complementarily shaped second fastening elements in the form of seat rails on a floor or surrounding structure in the aircraft for fastening the base unit, a front holding unit and a rear holding unit arranged on an upper side of the base unit at a distance from each other and defining therebetween a placement area for a wheelchair. The front holding unit and the rear holding unit are configured to form a releasable form-fit connection with the wheelchair disposed on the placement area so that the wheelchair is braced between the front holding unit and the rear holding unit. The holding system is configured to fix the wheelchair stationarily to the floor during operation of the aircraft.

An aircraft sanitization system is disclosed. The aircraft sanitization system includes a frame. The aircraft sanitization system further includes a tray operatively coupled to at least first two corners of the frame and is rotatable about a pivot axis. The tray is configured to be in one of a locked state and an unlocked state based on rotation about the pivot axis. In the unlocked state the tray is at an angle greater than zero with respect to the frame and in the locked state the tray is at an angle equal to zero with respect to the frame. The aircraft sanitization system further includes a set of Ultraviolet (UV) Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) attached on an exposed surface of the frame, wherein the set of UV LEDs is configured to sanitize the tray when the tray is in the locked state.

The invention also provides an aircraft passenger seat unit comprising a seat convertible to a bed, the bed being provided with a cover or harness.

A modal restraint system for an occupant of a seat of an aircraft having a mechanical failure sensor includes a strap feeder unit and a strap selectively retractable into and extendable from the strap feeder unit. The strap is positionable adjacent to the occupant. The strap feeder unit is adapted to switch between a plurality of modes including an unfixed mode and a fixed mode. The strap is extendable from and retractable into the strap feeder unit in the unfixed mode. The strap is substantially unextendable from the strap feeder unit in the fixed mode. The strap feeder unit is in the unfixed mode by default. The strap feeder unit is operable to switch to the fixed mode in response to a precautionary event including detection of an aircraft mechanical failure by the mechanical failure sensor, thereby reducing freedom of movement of the occupant relative to the seat.

A time delay device electrically coupled to the at least one sensor and the activation device is operative to, upon receiving the signal output by the at least one sensor, activate the activation device upon completion of a time delay after receiving the signal output by the at least one sensor. Further embodiments include shoulder belts forming loops allowing a predetermined amount of forward travel prior to restraining a passenger.

A vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft provides transportation to users of a network system. The network system may include multiple aircraft or other types of vehicles to provide multi-model transportation. An aircraft may include a fuselage, a truss coupled to the fuselage, and multiple distributed electric propellers coupled to the truss. The distributed electric propellers may be positioned on at least two different planes. The fuselage may include a cabin having one or more seats for the passengers arranged in a configuration that has a compact footprint, provides legroom, provides visibility to surroundings of the aircraft, or facilitates convenient ingress or egress of passengers. The aircraft may open a port cabin door and starboard cabin door for simultaneous ingress or egress of passengers.
