A system for electrically coupling a first structure with a second structure in a vehicle is disclosed, and includes a control module receiving at least one of electrical power and data, a cable, and a reel. The cable has a variable length and is electrically coupled to the control module. The cable transmits at least one of electrical power and data from the first structure to the second structure. The reel is located at the first structure and defines an axis of rotation. The cable is windable around the reel, and the reel is rotatable about the axis of rotation to adjust the variable length of the cable. The variable length of the cable is a portion of the cable that extends between the first structure to the second structure that is not wound around the reel.

The seat nodes receive power and commands from a plurality of power supply units, each of which is connected to a cabin management system. The seat nodes are able to monitor and control functionality at the seat, and communicate their status back to the cabin management system.

The raceway is configured for attachment to a sidewall assembly for use in a cabin of the aircraft. The raceway cover includes a first cover side, a second cover side, and retaining element(s) disposed on the first cover side. The raceway cover assembly further includes the conductive element(s) coupled and retained to the first cover side, with the retaining element(s), to form the raceway cover assembly. The conductive element(s) and the raceway cover are assembled together at a location off of the aircraft, prior to installing the raceway cover assembly with the one or more conductive elements in the aircraft, which allows for routing of the one or more conductive elements in the raceway cover at the location off of the aircraft.

The base coupler and the seat track are configured to position the seat electrical contact in connection with the track electrical contact of any seat-receiving region to which the base coupler is coupled. The methods comprise coupling the base coupler to a seat-receiving region, which comprises forming a connection between the seat electrical contact and the respective track electrical contact of the seat-receiving region, and providing electricity to the seat module via the electrical connection.

The circuit can be used as a sensor to determine whether the first and second passenger seat elements are connected.
