SAFE BOOSTER JETTISON FOR TACTICAL MISSILES
20220057182 · 2022-02-24 ·

A missile including an upper stage and at least one lower stage is provided. The upper stage includes a primary flight computer configured to control a flight of the upper stage along a missile flight path such that, for example, it reaches a predetermined target. The lower stage is mounted to the upper stage and includes a propellant for initially propelling the upper stage along the missile flight path. The lower stage is configured to be jettisoned from the upper stage when the propellant is spent. The lower stage includes a secondary flight computer configured to receive data from the primary flight computer prior to the propellant of the lower stage being spent, and to control a flight of the lower stage along a jettisoned stage flight path of the jettisoned lower stage such that, for example, the jettisoned lower stage glides to a predetermined safe landing zone

Metal encapsulated ceramic tile thermal insulation, and associated systems and methods

A metal encapsulated ceramic tile thermal insulation system for rockets and associated methods is disclosed. A representative system includes a launch vehicle having a first end and a second end generally opposite the first end and includes a heat shield positioned at the second end. The heat shield includes a plurality of thermal protection apparatuses, where individual of the thermal protection apparatuses include ceramic tiles encapsulated by inner and outer metal layers, which are positioned on opposing top and bottom surfaces of the ceramic tiles. The plurality of thermal protection apparatuses includes a plurality of pins positioned within corresponding holes drilled through the ceramic tiles and are secured to the metal layers. The outer metal layer can protect the ceramic tile from tool strikes and debris and can also prevent water from reaching and being absorbed by the ceramic tile.

Passive Device Designed to Facilitate Demise of A Space System During Re-Entry Into the Earth's Atmosphere

Space system comprising a structure formed by structure components, an on-board equipment carried by the structure, and a passive device designed to facilitate demise of the space system during re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere. The passive device comprises connecting members designed to stably connect the structure components. The connecting members comprise at least a portion made of a primer material with characteristics such as to decay at re-entry altitudes higher than those at which the current connecting members melt so as to make unstable the connection created by the connecting members to such an extent as to early triggering demise of the structure of the space system during re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere.

This invention is pioneering a Strategic Trans-orbital Carrier (herein called a carrier’) which merges the technologies attributes of a plurality commercial jet engines with a plurality reusable rocket engines to provide capabilities permitting a smooth computer-controlled transition from terrestrial air space to insertion into and thru low earth orbit (LEO) and into high geostationary earth orbit (GEO). A carrier would return back to terrestrial air space with carrying approximately 60 tons of any type of customers' defined cargo and passengers which would include intermodal container modules, complete DoD military strategic devices; heavy industrial outfitting apparatuses; building components for infrastructure complexes; personnel and robots; and space defensive materials to an in-situ space complex. With a fleet of carriers', a routine commercial services becomes available that are built to and guided by FAA flight regulations using specific airport with runways greater than 8,000 feet and that can handle a carriers weight.
