A method for manufacturing a compostable pod for brewing products envisages preparing a first and a second sheet made of biodegradable material with gas barrier properties, shaping the first and the second sheet so as to make at least a first and a second concave portion, filling the first concave portion with a predetermined quantity of brewing product and joining the first concave portion to the second concave portion so that the respective concavities are opposite one another and define a casing for the brewing product. The shaping steps of the first and the second sheet envisage moistening at least a first portion of the first sheet and a second portion of said second sheet, configuring the first and the second portion so as to make the first and the second concave portion and drying the first and the second concave portion.

Described is an apparatus for filling single-serve biodegradable coffee pods. The apparatus includes a base for supporting a rotatable platform comprising multiple pod holders, a filler mounted on the base and adjacent to the rotatable platform comprising a container filled with ground coffee and multiple augers capable of filling the coffee pods with ground coffee, a sealer mounted on the base comprising a heat sealable film winder, and a controller directing rotation of the rotatable platform, filling of the ground coffee from the filler, and sealing and trimming of the sealed film tops of the single-serve, biodegradable coffee pods.

Capsule intended for receiving a substance for preparing a beverage using a coffee machine or infusion machine, to be held by a piston during the passage of the extracting liquid after piercing of the base by the pins of the piston. The capsule made from injected plastic material has a base (1) and a side wall (3) together forming part of a frustrum of a cone, as well as a rim (4) covered by a lid (5) after the filling of the capsule with the substance. The side wall (2) is shaped as a single cone frustrum between the rim (3) and the open (12) base (1), formed as a flattened ring (11), connected to the side wall (2). The side wall (2) is covered by a label (23) and the open base (1), including the ring (11) thereof, is covered by a sealed lid (14) inside the base.
PAPER CARTRIDGE FOR EXTRACTING BEVERAGE AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREFOR
A paper cartridge for extracting a beverage and a method for manufacturing the cartridge are proposed. The paper cartridge is configured to extract a beverage including not only general tea-type beverages such as green tea, black tea, and Solomon's seal tea, but also medicinal herbal tea-type beverages such as Angelica gigas Nakai, Eucommia ulmoides Oliv., Liriope muscari, Saengmaek-san, Acanthopanax Root Bark, Schisandra chinensis, Arctium lappa, Panax ginseng, Hovenia dulcis, and red ginseng by using high-pressure extraction water after the paper cartridge is fitted over a beverage maker. More specifically, proposed are an environment-friendly paper cartridge and a manufacturing method therefor, in which a pod-shaped body, a porous inner filter, and a cover sheet are all made of paper materials and are bonded to each other via a medium including a synthetic resin component by a hot-pressing method, thereby preventing environmental pollution.
Pad for Hot Beverage and Apparatus and Method for Manufacturing Thereof
The invention relates to a pad for use in a beverage machine for preparing a warm beverage, a system therefor, and a method for manufacturing such pads. The pad includes: a first sheet having a surface area, wherein the surface area of the first sheet is provided with flow passages that are positioned at or near the outer perimeter of the first sheet; and a second sheet having a surface area, wherein the surface area of the second sheet is provided with one or more flow passages that are positioned at or near the centre of the second sheet. The first sheet and the second sheet are connected to each other at or near the outer perimeter for forming an inner space for holding the raw material that is usable for preparing the beverage. Substantially the entire surface area of the first and/or second sheet is impermeable to the flow of pressurized liquid. The impermeable surface area and the flow passages cooperate for forcing the flow of pressurized liquid to flow substantially in a direction that is parallel to the surface areas through the raw material in the pad.

An apparatus (100) for manufacturing pods (M) for beverage extraction machines is described, comprising: movement means to advance a belt (110) of waterproof material in a predetermined rectilinear direction (A), a plurality of forming plates (125) arranged below the belt and provided with at least one cavity (135), movement means to advance said forming plates in a synchronized manner with the belt, and a plurality of operational devices (165, 200, 300, 400, 500) arranged in succession along the belt; wherein said operational devices comprise for example one device for pressing down a portion of the belt into the cavity of the forming plate, a device for releasing a dose of a powder substance inside a cap (C1), a device for compacting the dose, a device for applying a second cap (C2), a device for sealing the second cap to the belt.

An apparatus for making a beverage pad having an amount of extractable or soluble beverage preparation product as a compacted puck enclosed between two sheets of filtering material comprises dosing means arranged for supply of a dose of extractable or soluble beverage preparation product to a puck forming device of the apparatus and further comprises a packaging device arranged to package a compacted puck received from the puck forming device between two sheets of filtering material to form the beverage pad. The puck forming device comprises a cylindrical rotating drum with an outer side surface having recesses for receiving in each recess a dose of extractable or soluble beverage preparation product. A bottom wall of each recess is formed by a movable piston arranged to move with respect to the outer side surface of the drum to vary a height of the recess in relation to an angular position of the recess on the circular circumference of the drum. The puck forming device further comprises a compression body adjacent to the rotating drum arranged to provide a counter surface to compress a dose of extractable or soluble beverage preparation product against. The compression body comprises drive means arranged to drive the counter surface moving along a circumferential part of the outer side surface of the rotating drum with a velocity corresponding to a velocity of the outer side surface of the rotating drum.

The cleaner roller may counter rotate with a rotatable drum of the apparatus, in contact with an upper surface of a first elastic layer on the rotatable drum, and at a greater tangential speed than at least one surface of an outer circumferential surface of the rotatable drum or an upper surface of the first elastic layer. The poker roller includes projections that are each configured to extend into one or more divots of the rotatable drum. The poker roller may counter rotate with the rotatable drum and at a same tangential speed as the at least one surface such that the projections extend into and out of separate, respective divots of the rotatable drum based on the counter rotation of the poker roller and the rotatable drum.
