Method of fabricating coffee pods at point of sale
A method of fabricating coffee pods at a point of sale location using a coffee pod dispensing device with shell less, expandable coffee pods. The fabrication is initiated by tactile input from a control panel that determines the parameters of the coffee pods to be fabricated and generates the operational signals for the dispensing device. Fabrication there after progresses sequentially through a series of operations that involves the loading of the coffee pods onto a pod advancing means which then takes the coffee pods through the steps of expansion, filling, sealing and delivery. To accomplish this the pods are compressible pods arranged in a linear array that allows for pleated or stacked storage in a pod loading means within the device's enclosure, as well as continuous feed capabilities.
Coffee pod point of sale fabrication device
A point of sale coffee pod dispensing device for use with shell less, expandable coffee pods. The compressible pods are arranged in a linear array that allows for pleated or stacked storage in a pod loading means within the device's enclosure, as well as continuous feed capabilities. The pod advancing means moves the pods from a pod loading station to the pod delivery station, there between sequentially passing through stations for pod expanding, coffee filling, and sealing. An operating system allows input of signals for the operation of the device based on tactile input from a control panel on the device's housing that determines the parameters of the coffee pods to be fabricated.

A method for manufacturing a compostable pod for brewing products envisages preparing a first and a second sheet made of biodegradable material with gas barrier properties, shaping the first and the second sheet so as to make at least a first and a second concave portion, filling the first concave portion with a predetermined quantity of brewing product and joining the first concave portion to the second concave portion so that the respective concavities are opposite one another and define a casing for the brewing product. The shaping steps of the first and the second sheet envisage moistening at least a first portion of the first sheet and a second portion of said second sheet, configuring the first and the second portion so as to make the first and the second concave portion and drying the first and the second concave portion.
Recyclable Composition for Waterproofing Paper Utilizing a Plant Derived Wax, Pellets of the Composition, Recyclable Waterproof Paper Laminate including the Composition, Recyclable Hot Beverage Cup Including the Laminate, Pod for Making Hot Beverages Including the Laminate, and Drinking Straw Including the Laminate
A composition that includes plant derived wax having a melting point of at least 70? C. can be used to waterproof cellulose based materials like paper and board. Suitable waxes include sugarcane wax and rice-bran wax. A surfactant such as stearic acid improves the adhesion of the composition to the underlying material. The resulting waterproof laminate can be economically recycled. Hot beverage cups made from the laminate are waterproof and recyclable without first being separated into components. Coffee pods and drinking straws that are waterproof and recyclable are manufactured with the waterproof laminate.
Method of manufacturing partially roasted coffee beans and a combination roasting and brewing device
Exemplary embodiments disclosed herein provide a method for producing primary roasted coffee beans where green coffee beans are roasted only until the point where the beans have reached the end of the primary roasting phase, where the beans are then quenched to stop the roasting process. In some embodiments, the end of the primary roasting phase is marked by the beans reaching the first crack stage. A disposable package containing primary roasted beans is also disclosed. A device for roasting and brewing ground coffee beans is also disclosed, the device having a porous container which accepts the ground coffee beans; a roasting container which accepts the porous container and has a sidewall containing an aperture; a fan and heating element positioned to force hot air through the aperture; a water containment vessel and heating subassembly positioned above the roasting container; and a water release valve assembly positioned between the water containment vessel and the roasting container.

The shaping steps of the first and the second sheet envisage moistening at least a first portion of the first sheet and a second portion of said second sheet, configuring the first and the second portion so as to make the first and the second concave portion and drying the first and the second concave portion.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR FORMING A COMPOSTABLE POD FOR BEVERAGES FROM A SHEET HAVING A CONTROLLED MOISTURE LEVEL
The invention relates to a system (100) for manufacturing a compostable pod (900) for brewing products. Therein, the pod (900) is made from a sheet (600) made of a biodegradable cellulose-based material. The system (100) comprises at least one shaping line (200), which comprises a handling unit (300) for transferring the sheet (600) along a transfer direction (TD) through the system (100). The shaping line (200) further comprises a humidifying unit (400) for moistening at least one side of the sheet (600) with a moistening agent (401), and a forming unit (800) for shaping a part of the moistened sheet (600) into a three-dimensional shape to form a pod element (910), which defines a pod cavity (911). The shaping line (200) comprises further a humidity sensor system (500) for visually sensing a level of humidity of at least a section of the moistened sheet (600). Values related to the level of humidity sensed by the humidity sensor system (500) are received by a control unit (700), which is further configured to control the humidifying unit (400) based on these values. The invention also relates to a method for manufacturing a compostable pod (900), whereby a level of humidity of at least a section of the moistened sheet (600) is visually sensed and forwarded for controlling the moistening process of the at least one side of the sheet (600) correspondingly.
