Shipping System for Shipping Glass Sheets

A shipping system for shipping planar substrates includes a plurality of planar substrates stacked to form a pack and a plurality of interleaving material including substantially spherical beads positioned between the substrates of the pack and configured to carry a load. Substantially all of the beads have a diameter within 25% of D.sub.max, where D.sub.max is a diameter corresponding to a size of an opening of an upper limit sieve used in the shipping system. Also disclosed are a spacer for use in a shipping system for shipping planar substrates, a wrapped system for shipping planar substrates, a method of wrapping a system for shipping planar substrates, and a powder applicator.

Modified atmosphere packaging apparatus and method with automated bag production

An automatic packaging apparatus is provided, having a conveyor, a continuous longitudinally folded web, cutting and sealing mechanisms for forming flexible pouches from the web. The apparatus also includes processing stations for loading the pouches, transferring fluids (typically gases) into and out of the pouches, and sealing the pouches. Various alternative methods and devices are provided for separating each sealed pouch from the web by either making a continuous cut across a connecting strip of web material downline of the processing stations or pre-perforating the connecting strip upline of the processing stations. When the connecting strip is pre-perforated, a sealed pouch of sufficient weight may be separated from the web passively by a takeaway conveyor, and a lighter sealed pouch may be separated from the web by a tear-off mechanism that grips and pulls the web.

A method for atmosphere modification in a container during the sealing process that includes deploying a closure head on the container so as to enclose at least the container-opening and create an air-tight seal such that an interior volume of the closure head is isolated from the ambient atmosphere. The closure head having at least one conduit providing fluid communication between the interior volume and at least one of a vacuum source and a pressure source. The method also includes creating at least a partial vacuum inside the container, inserting a replacement atmosphere into the container by means of the pressure source, sealing the container; and removing the closure head from the container. Devices for implementing this method are also disclosed.

Vacuum suction nozzle and vacuum suction apparatus including the same

Disclosed are a vacuum suction nozzle for improving vacuum suction performance and a vacuum suction apparatus including the same. The nozzle includes blade portions extending from both sides thereof so as to reduce a gap occurring between the nozzle and an outer skin material for a vacuum insulation panel (VIP) or other vacuum wrapping paper when the outer skin material or vacuum wrapping paper is sealed, thereby minimizing the occurrence of a leak and thus enabling efficient vacuum suction. Further, the nozzle achieves efficient vacuum suctioning by ensuring a suction channel inside the vacuum insulation panel (VIP) or other vacuum wrapping paper through a protrusion extending to the front of the nozzle.

HEADSPACE MODIFICATION METHOD FOR REMOVAL OF VACUUM PRESSURE AND APPARATUS THEREFOR
20170305581 · 2017-10-26 ·

To modify the headspace in a container to remove vacuum pressure, a container has a seal or cap which may provide a temporary opening into the container which is sealable under compression to provide a controlled raising of the internal pressure as the heated contents of the container cools. A sealing chamber (84) may enable the introduction of a fluid into the headspace (23b) to force the fluid level (40) lower. Other methods and apparatus are described.
