PLANT BODY OF GENUS NICOTIANA WITH LOW ALKALOID CONTENT AND PRODUCTION METHOD THEREOF

An embodiment of the present invention provides a tobacco plant having a low alkaloid content. In the tobacco plant, a function of a gene encoding aspartate oxidase AO2 is suppressed.

Petunia plant named ‘PEHY0076’

A new Petunia plant named ‘PEHY0076’ particularly distinguished by its small sized, red-purple with white flowers, medium to late flowering and a mounding plant habit.

Resistance to arthropod pest in tomatoes

The present invention is directed to a commercial tomato, namely S. lycopersicum plant, which is resistant to an arthropod pest comprising in its genome introgressed sequences from S. galapagense conferring resistance to said arthropod pest, wherein the introgressed sequences are chosen from those present in the genome of a plant of the line TUT115 NCIMB accession number 42109. The commercial tomato of the invention is preferably resistant to ToMV (Tomato Mosaic Virus). The introgressed sequences are preferably found at one or more of the loci defined by the following SNP markers: SNP solcap_snp_sl_18619 on chromosome 1 and SNP solcap_snp_sl_12348 on chromosome 1.

Virus-resistant tobacco and breeding method therefor

In order to provide tobacco resistant to a virus, tobacco in accordance with the present invention is arranged such that: (i) a translation initiation factor eIF(iso)4E protein which is non-functional with respect to a virus is produced or (ii) expression of a translation initiation factor eIF(iso)4E gene is suppressed; and (a) a translation initiation factor eIF4E2 protein, which is non-functional with respect to a virus, is produced or (b) expression of a translation initiation factor eIF4E2 gene is suppressed.
