A converting line includes a rewinding machine for winding web material into a log. For time points during a time period of the log wind cycle, predictive information representative of a log to be wound is generated and stored in a memory of a control of the rewinding machine. An image capture device is enabled to capture a plurality of images of the log being wound in the winding nest at the plurality of corresponding time points during the time period. Log image capture information is generated based upon the plurality of captured images and corresponding time points during the time period. The log image capture information is compared with the generated predictive log image information to determine a difference in log image. Revised predictive log image information is generated based at least in part upon a difference in the log image capture information relative to predictive log image information.

METHOD FOR PRODUCING AN EASILY REMOVABLE FLAP AT THE ENDS OF AN ADHESIVE TAPE AND DEVICE FOR CARRYING OUT SAID PRODUCTION
20200109316 · 2020-04-09 ·

The invention relates to a method for producing an easily removable flap at the ends of an adhesive tape, and to a device for carrying out said production, which comprises applying a piece of non-adhesive paper (3) adhered to the ends (10) of the tape (1), said paper having a width (a) less than the width (A) of the tape (1) in which it is applied and being placed at the center of the end (10) of the tape (1). The device (4) comprises, along with the reel (5) of the tape (1), a second reel (6) of a roll of paper (3), means (7) for introducing and means (12) for advancing the web of paper (3), means (13) for cutting same and means (14) for adhering the cut piece to the web of the adhesive tape (1), and means (16) for moving and cutting the tape (1) with the piece of paper (3).

Apparatus and method for securing an end of a strip to a tambour

A method for securing a web end of a paper web on a first drum during a change of drum, the method includes passing the web end through a nip between a Pope roller and the second drum and applying adhesive to an area of the web end on a downward-rotating area of the Pope roller after the web end is passed through the nip.

A roll of label web and method utilize a length of first label web having a plurality of longitudinally spaced adhesive-backed labels removably attached to a substrate wound around a tubular core in such a manner that a first and last label of the first label web are fully intact and usable. The leading and trailing ends of the first label web are cut between labels. The trailing end of the first label web is releasably attached to the core by double-sided releasable adhesive tabs that allow the trailing end of the first label web to pull free from the core for printing the last label. The leading end of the first label web is temporarily secured to the roll by adhesive tabs that are removable without damaging the first label of the first label web.

A device (5) for loading rolls (R) in a machine (1) includes a rotating member (6) that rotates around an axis (A) of rotation and having a plurality of radial elements (17A, 17B, 17C, 17D; 17E) spaced angularly with respect to each other. The radial elements define receiving seats (16) for rolls. At least one of the receiving seats (16) is suitable for assuming at least two distinct configurations for receiving and handling rolls (R) of different radial dimensions.
