ADJUSTING TENSION OF A SUBSTRATE

An example method comprises operating a drive unit to advance a substrate in a substrate advance direction toward a printing station. At the printing station, a first line is printed onto the substrate. A drive unit is instructed to advance the substrate in the substrate advance direction by a target amount, and a second line is printed onto the substrate. The distance between the first and second lines in a direction perpendicular to the substrate advance direction is calculated and, based on the calculated difference, a tension of the substrate is modified.

Fabric laying system and method

The present disclosure relates to systems and methods related to the suppression of invasive plant species by laying down a fabric over beds of such invasive plants. A watercraft with a fabric laying mechanism is provided with the mechanism automatically guiding the fabric from a fabric stockpile to a frame that spreads the fabric prior to the fabric being laid over the underwater plant bed. The watercraft may be provided with a device for dispensing material over the fabric that has been laid down to weigh down or hold down the fabric. Preferably, the fabric is biodegradable and the material is natural to the area. In one implementation, the fabric (e.g jute burlap) is coarsely woven from natural plant fibers.

A mounting apparatus (10) serves to place a film between an electronic component and a bottom surface of a mounting head and mount the electronic component. The mounting apparatus includes: a film winding mechanism (18) that rotates a winding reel (26) to wind in a film spanning from a dispensing reel to the winding reel (26), the film winding mechanism (18) executing the winding so that a new film is disposed on the bottom surface of the mounting head each time when an electronic component is mounted; a tension detecting part (38) that detects the tension of the film after the same is wound by the film winding mechanism (18); and a control part (20) that rotates the winding reel (26) by a winding motor (30) to adjust the tension on the basis of the tension detected by the tension detecting part (38). A film supply apparatus is also provided.

Webs include print patterns repeated at print pitches. The first web is intermittently fed at the print pitch of the first web by a first pair of feed rollers to a section. The second web is fed at the print pitch of the second web by a second pair of feed rollers to the section. The first web and the second web are fed in a superposed state by a downstream pair of feed rollers from the section. A first tension roller and a second tension roller engaging with the first web and the second web are biased by a biasing member via a linkage.

PRINT MEDIA MODES

In some examples, a non-transitory-machine readable medium can store instructions executable by a processing resource to select a special media mode from a plurality of special media modes based on a weight or a type of print media and cause a conditioning device to condition the print media in accordance with the special media mode.

The current invention is generally directed to apparatuses and methods for controlling tension and tension disturbances in a web being continuously unwound from a roll of spirally wound web material. In accordance with the present disclosure, a rotary dancer mechanism is used for applying active and variable forces to a moving web in response to irregularities, such as variations in tension. In one aspect, the apparatus and method of the present disclosure may be used to attenuate undesired disturbances in the web as the web is being fed into a process.
