A method of making an elevator load bearing member includes unidirectional weaving a plurality of load bearing fibers including at least a first material and a second material. A melting point of the first material is higher than a melting point of the second material. The method includes bonding the load bearing fibers together by at least partially melting at least some of the second material and coating the plurality of load bearing fibers.

METHOD AND ELEVATOR ARRANGEMENT

The invention relates to a method for managing flow of people and goods within a building under construction, comprising providing one or more elevator control systems for automatically controlling movement of elevator cars; providing a first passenger elevator, the first passenger elevator comprising a first passenger elevator car for transporting people, the first passenger elevator car being vertically movable in an elevator hoistway formed inside the building under construction, vertical movement of the car being automatically controlled by an elevator control system, the first passenger elevator car comprising an interior delimited by floor, walls, ceiling and at least one automatic door; and providing a goods elevator, the goods elevator comprising a goods elevator car for transporting goods, the goods elevator car being vertically movable beside the first passenger elevator car in an elevator hoistway formed inside the building under construction, vertical movement of the goods elevator car being automatically controlled by an elevator control system, the goods elevator car comprising at least a transport platform; using the first passenger elevator to transport passengers between floors of the building under construction; and using the goods elevator to transport goods between floors of the building under construction. The invention also relates to an arrangement for managing flow of people and goods within a building under construction, which arrangement implements the method.

Elevator system suspension member termination

A suspension member for suspending and/or driving an elevator car of an elevator system includes a plurality of tension members extending along a length of the suspension member including a plurality of fibers extending along the length of the suspension member bonded into a polymer matrix. A jacket substantially retains the plurality of tension members. The suspension member is configured to be deformed at a suspension member end to allow for installation of the suspension member end into a termination assembly of the elevator system. A method of installing a suspension member of an elevator system into a termination assembly includes deforming a suspension member end and reforming it to a selected shape, inserting the suspension member end into the termination assembly and curing and/or hardening it, and applying a load thereto or to the socket or the wedge to secure the suspension member end in the termination assembly.

An elevator system having: an elevator car vertically movable in an elevator shaft; a traction medium for raising and lowering the elevator car and being guided around at least one roller to the car and being fixed merely at ends thereof; a traction medium reservoir including at least one first deflecting axle and at least one second deflecting axle around which the traction medium is guided in alternation between the first and second axles so that a section, the length depending on the spacing of the first and second axles, of the traction medium is received in the reservoir; and a fixing unit to which the second deflecting axle is fixed, wherein the fixing unit is fastenable at different positions in the elevator shaft so that the spacing between the first and second axles is settable to determine the length of the traction medium received in the reservoir.

Reinforcement strand for reinforcing a polymer article

A reinforcement strand (400) comprises a core (403) around which steel filaments (404) are twisted all with the same final lay length and direction. The steel filaments are arranged in an intermediate layer comprising N first steel filaments and an outer layer of 2N steel filaments circumferentially arranged around the intermediate layer. In the intermediate layer filaments will contact one another at a closing lay length that is determined by the number of steel filaments N in the intermediate layer, the diameter of the core and the diameter of the first steel filaments. By choosing the final lay length and direction equal to the between two and six times the closing lay length gaps will form between the intermediate layer filaments. The 2N outer layer filaments are further divided into a group of smaller (408) and a group of larger (406) diameter steel filaments.
