A beverage dispensing assembly for preparing and dispensing a beverage has a source of pressurized base liquid containing dissolved CO.sub.2, N.sub.2 or N.sub.2O and a gas pressure of at least 0.5 bar overpressure at 2° C. A beverage unit with a liquid flow path has a liquid inlet at one end in fluid communication with the base liquid in the base liquid source and a beverage outlet at an opposite end. An ingredient container receiving means has an ingredient container installed so the contents are in fluid communication with the liquid flow path for mixing the contents with a base liquid in the liquid flow path. A gas pressure regulation unit has a pressure chamber in the liquid flow path downstream of the communication between the liquid flow path and the ingredient container contents. A gas ingredient inlet is in fluid communication with the pressure chamber.

A carbonation machine may include a carbonation head, a holder that is configured to hold a gas canister, the holder comprising a connector with a socket configured to enable linear insertion of a valve of the canister into the socket, the socket including a seal with at least one lateral opening to enable fluidic flow between one or more laterally oriented ports of the valve and a conduit of the holder while preventing leakage of gas from the fluidic flow, and a holding mechanism configured to hold a lateral projection from the canister after insertion of the valve into the socket such that the valve remains in the socket, and an activation mechanism configured to operate the valve to release the gas from the canister when inserted into the socket so as to enable the gas to flow via the conduit to the carbonation head

Carbon dioxide, such as may be used for a carbonated beverage, is produced by microwave thermal decomposition of a starting material. An apparatus for the process includes a microwave generator, a microwave chamber, a capsule received in the chamber containing starting material(s) and one or more channel(s) for recovering CO.sub.2 generated in the process.

The invention relates to a domestic machine for dispensing beverage, comprising a removable water tank, a water filtration system, at least one circulation pump for moving the water to a dispensing point associated with a beverage capsule, the machine comprising a heating section comprising a heater configured to heat the water to be dispensed, a cooling section comprising a cooling device configured to cool the water to be dispensed, and a carbonating section comprising a carbonating device configured to dissolve CO.sub.2 in the water to be dispensed, the machine comprising a control panel for selecting a hot drink, a cold drink or a carbonated drink, by activating at least one of said sections.

A capsule support for accommodating a capsule and a dispensing unit for providing the beverage produced based on the contents of the capsule. The beverage system has a carbonizing source configured to provide a carbonizing gas in the beverage system, at least one liquid container for receiving a liquid, and at least one carbonizer configured to carbonize liquid from the liquid container using carbonizing gas from the carbonizing source. A backblock includes a body with a cavity connected to an inlet and an outlet. A spindle is positioned with a first end within the cavity and a second end with a tab exterior of the body. A latching plate is configured for translative movement relative to the body. The latching plate includes a keyhole with a bore and a channel. The bore is dimensioned to receive the spindle and the channel is dimensioned to receive the tab. The latching plate has a first latch position proximate to the body and a second latch position spaced apart from the body. When the tab is in alignment with the channel, the latching plate can translate to the second latch position about the tab. When the tab is out of alignment with the channel, the tab retains the latching plate in the first latch position.

An on demand functional beverage dispenser is provided that outputs an enhanced flavored mixture by combining a liquid with a flavored product and a functional product including a dietary supplement.

An adapter for a canister filling system includes a body having an opening that is shaped to enable insertion of a valve of a gas canister for holding a pressurized or liquefied gas, into an interior space of the body, leaving a sealed gap between at least a portion of a lateral aspect of the valve and an internal surface of the body facing the interior space; and at least one channel that is configured to conduct pressurized or liquified gas from a canister filling system into the sealed gap in the interior space, so as to reach one or more lateral exterior ports of the valve of the gas canister that open laterally to a longitudinal axis of a body of the gas canister, when the valve is inserted in the interior space, to facilitate filling of the gas canister with the pressurized or liquified gas through said one or more lateral exterior ports of the gas canister.
