Embodiments provide for online and/or electronic card games such as blackjack that allow at least one card to be dealt from a special deck (e.g., a restricted deck) into a hand, while the remainder of the cards for that hand (and, in some embodiments, other hands involved in the game event) are dealt from a main/conventional deck. In accordance with some embodiments, the at least one card dealt from the special deck is dealt into a hand of the player while in other embodiments it is dealt into the hand of a dealer and/or an opponent player. A special deck may be a deck that includes cards configured to provide an advantage to the player (e.g., in a blackjack game, restricted deck may only include high value cards if being used for a player hand or only low value cards if being used for a dealer hand).

A winner among the players has a final point count closest to the target maximum without exceeding it, and ties in final point counts are broken by a better hand having better poker rank or more total cards used in forming a player's final point count total hand. Wagering events with players placing value at risk in execution of the game may also be made.

Winning of the hand and loss of each player bet occurs if the dealer has an Ace as the first playing card or winning of the hand and bet by any one or more of the players having an Ace as the first playing card. A second card is dealt face down to each of the one or more players and to the dealer if there is no Ace in any first playing card of the first hand.

A system for playing blackjack requires a player or electronic system to: (i) receive a first bet from a player; (ii) deal an initial two-card hand to the player; (iii) deal one or more additional cards to the player; (iv) determine whether a sum total value of the initial two-card hand and the one or more additional cards exceeds twenty-one; (v) if so, offer the player an opportunity to place an additional bet; (vi) receive, from the player, the additional bet; (vii) in response receiving the additional bet, deal a final card to the player (optionally from a shoe that is different from that used for the initial hand); (vii) subtract a value of the final card from the sum total value to yield a new value; and (ix) based on the new value, determine whether the player has a winning hand, a push, or a losing hand.
