MICROFLUIDIC DEVICES WITH ELECTRODES FORMED AS PHYSICALLY SEPARATED SECTIONS OF MICROCHANNEL SIDE WALLS
A device includes a first layer of an electrically insulating material and a second layer of a non-electrically insulating material (e.g., semiconductor or electrically conductive) extending on the first layer. The second layer is structured so as to define opposite, lateral walls of a microchannel, a bottom wall of which is defined by an exposed surface of the first layer. The second layer is further structured to form one or more electrical insulation barriers; each barrier includes a line of through holes, each surrounded by an oxidized region of the material of the second layer. The through holes alternate with oxidized portions of the oxidized region along the line. Each barrier extends, as a whole, laterally across the second layer up to one of the lateral walls and delimits two sections of the second layer on each side of the barrier and on a same side of the microchannel.

The device includes a groove 4, 15, 25 that is concave in a direction from a front surface 3b, 14b, 24b of the insulating layer 3, 14, 24 toward a back surface 3a, 14a, 24a of the insulating layer 3, 14, 24. The groove 4, 15, 25 extends straddling the at least three electrodes. Liquid L is controlled on the front surface 3b, 14b, 24b of the insulating layer 3, 14, 24 by using a change in electrostatic force generated by changing voltage applied to the electrodes 2, 12, 13, 22, 23.
Method and Control Unit for Producing a Carrier Element for Receiving a Sample Liquid, Carrier Element, Carrier Module, and Method for Using a Carrier Element
A method for producing a carrier element for receiving a sample liquid is disclosed. The method includes a step of coating a carrier substrate with a light-sensitive polymer layer in order to obtain a coated carrier substrate, in particular wherein the carrier substrate has a hydrophilic surface quality. The method also includes an exposure and development step wherein the coated carrier substrate is exposed and developed in order to obtain a structured polymer layer. The method also includes a fluorination step, wherein the structured polymer layer on the carrier substrate is fluorinated in order to produce the carrier element for receiving the sample liquid, in particular wherein the structured polymer layer obtains a hydrophobic surface quality as a result of the fluorination step.
MICROFLUIDIC PASSAGE WITH PROTECTIVE LAYER
A microfluidic die may include a microfluidic passage and a protective layer provided adjacent to internal surfaces of the microfluidic passage. The protective layer may include a protective nano-crystalline material and a protective amorphous matrix encapsulating the protective nano-crystalline material.
Method for mechanical and hydrodynamic microfluidic transfection
Methods for introducing exogenous material into a cell are provided, which include exposing the cell to a transient decrease in pressure in the presence of the exogenous material. Also provided are devices for performing the method of the invention.
Microstructured nozzle and production thereof
The invention relates to a nozzle for use in a device for administering a liquid medical formulation, to a method for producing the nozzle in the form of a microfluidic component and to a tool for producing microstructures of the microfluidic component. The nozzle is formed by a plastics plate with groove-like microstructures which are covered by a plastics cover on the longitudinal side in a fixed manner. The production method includes a moulding process in which a moulding tool is used, which moulding tool has complementary metal microstructures which have been produced from a semiconductor material in an electrodeposition process by means of a master component.
Fluidic cavities for on-chip layering and sealing of separation arrays
A method for fabricating a fluidic device includes depositing a sacrificial material on a pillar array arranged on a substrate. The method also includes removing a portion of the sacrificial material. The method further includes depositing a sealing layer on the pillar array to form a sealed fluidic cavity.
THREE-DIMENSIONAL FEATURES FORMED IN MOLDED PANEL
Examples include a device comprising integrated circuit dies molded into a molded panel. The molded panel has three-dimensional features formed therein, where the three-dimensional features are associated with the integrated circuit dies. To form the three-dimensional features, a feature formation material is deposited, the molded panel is formed, and the feature formation material is removed.
