Distillation column having removable tray assembly
A distillation column and tray assembly is disclosed herein. The distillation column includes a removable inner tray assembly with adjustable downcomer tubes. The removable tray assembly enables the user to selectively change distillation plates when so removed. When removed, a distiller or brewer may adjust the downcomer tubes to change the fluid level on the distillation plates, or bypass certain distillation plates completely. Certain embodiments of the invention include a feature of an O-ring recessed around a perimeter of the plates permitting a tight seal and reducing manufacturing costs.
Contact tray for a mass transfer column
A valve contact tray for use in a mass transfer or heat exchange column and having a plurality of fixed or moveable valves distributed across a tray deck of the contact tray. Each of the valves includes an opening in the tray deck, a valve cover connected to attachment legs, and a weir surrounding the opening. The valve cover is wider than and extends outwardly beyond the underlying opening in the tray deck and has a perimeter region that extends downwardly. A louvered vent opening may be provided in a downstream one of the attachment legs.
DUAL-FLOW TRAY FOR VAPOR-LIQUID CONTACTING, AND ITS USE
A dual-flow tray for vapor-liquid contacting comprising: higher-relief portions configured to provide first valves; lower-relief portions configured to provide second valves; interconnecting portions that interconnect the higher-relief portions and the lower-relief portions.
TRAY DECK ORIFICE DEVICE AND METHODS OF REPAIRING A TRAY DECK
A tray deck for use in a vessel and a method of repairing a damaged tray deck. The method includes coupling a tray deck orifice repair device to the damaged tray deck. The tray deck orifice repair device is coupled with a valve.
Process for the purification of a cracking gas stream in an oil scrub column
A process for removing a petroleum spirit fraction and also an oil fraction from a cracking gas stream in an oil scrub column, wherein, the ratio of the amount of substance of the petroleum spirit fraction recycled into the benzene section at the top per unit time to the amount of substance of the cracking gas introduced into the oil section per unit time is in a range from 1:16 to 1:10, preferably 1:12 to 1:10.
Method and system for orifice control of valve pressure drop
The present disclosure relates to a valve tray for use in a chemical process column. The valve tray includes a plurality of apertures formed therein. A plurality of valves are maintained in a spaced relationship relative to individual apertures of the plurality of apertures. An area of the individual apertures is less than an area of individual valves of the plurality of valves.
Tray deck orifice device and methods of repairing a tray deck
The invention is directed to a tray deck for use in a vessel and a method of repairing a damaged tray deck. The method includes coupling at least one tray deck orifice repair device to an upper surface of the damaged tray deck such that void of each of the at least one tray deck repair devices is aligned with each of the plurality of orifices on the tray deck. The at least one tray deck orifice repair device has at least one anti-spin tab extending from an edge thereof, and the at least one tray deck orifice repair device is coupled with a valve.
Liquid-gas exchange device and separation method
An exchange device includes a plate having a top surface, a bottom surface, a plurality of openings extending between the top and bottom surfaces. The top surface receives a liquid which flows in a flow direction over the top surface. A plurality of valves is disposed over the openings. Each valve includes a round lid coupled to the first, second, and third legs. The first leg is upstream of the second and third legs relative to the flow direction. The first leg has a width that is greater than the width of the second and third legs. In particular, a ratio of the width of the first leg to the width of the second leg is in a range of 1.6:1 to 2.6:1.
VALVE FOR CARRYING OUT A MASS TRANSFER PROCESS
A valve accommodated in a separation tray including upper (3) and lower (5) trays, a lock (1) formed between the upper (3) and lower (5) trays. The valve (13) includes a closing element (11) configured such that an orifice (9) in the lower tray (5) is closed by the closing element (11) in a first valve position so that liquid flows from the upper tray (3) into the lock (1), and, in a second valve position, the orifice (9) and an orifice (7) in the upper tray (3) are opened so that gas flows through the lock (1) and liquid on the upper tray (3). The closing element (11) is in the form of a hood including a jacket (23) having orifices (21) positioned in such a way that, in the second valve position, gas flows through the orifices (21) into the liquid on the upper tray (3).
