Methods for fabricating porous media with controllable characteristics
A method for fabrication of ordinary porous media and fractured porous media with controllable characteristics is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of: providing a cylindrical container and sealing one end of the cylindrical container. The method further comprises fastening the sealed end of the cylindrical container with a lacy sheet for connecting to a vacuum pump and packing the cylindrical container with glass beads to achieve predetermined porosity and permeability using vacuum. Finally placing the packed container in a furnace until reaching a retention time at a predefined rate of temperature enhancement, and separating a fabricated core from the packed container.

A filter aid may include acid-washed diatomaceous earth having high purity, and perlite. A method of making a high purity filter aid may include acid washing diatomaceous earth to reduce the h in the diatomaceous earth, and combining the acid-washed diatomaceous earth with high purity perlite to obtain to obtain a high purity filter aid. A method of reducing extractable metals from diatomaceous earth may include washing the diatomaceous earth in a first acid, rinsing the diatomaceous earth, and washing the diatomaceous earth in a second acid. The first acid may include an inorganic acid having a first strength, and the second acid may include an organic acid having a second strength different than the first strength. A method of filtering a beverage may include passing the beverage through a filter including a filter aid including acid-washed diatomaceous earth having high purity, and perlite.
ANTIMICROBIAL FIBERS
The invention provides an antimicrobial fiber which exhibits excellent antimicrobial properties even without the addition of antimicrobial agents and can remain antimicrobial even after repeated washing. The antimicrobial fiber comprises a fiber having on a surface thereof a polyacetal copolymer (X) containing oxyalkylene groups, the molar amount of oxyalkylene groups in the polyacetal copolymer (X) being 0.2 to 5 mol % relative to the total of the molar amount of oxymethylene groups and the molar amount of oxyalkylene groups.
HYDROCARBON FLUID-WATER SEPARATION
A substrate for use in a filter media including, for example, in a hydrocarbon fluid-water separation filter; methods of identifying the substrate; methods of making the substrate; methods of using the substrate; and methods of improving the roll off angle of the substrate. In some embodiments, the substrate includes a hydrophilic group-containing polymer or a hydrophilic group-containing polymer coating.
HIGH-PURITY COMPOSITE MATERIALS, METHODS OF MAKING HIGH-PURITY COMPOSITE MATERIALS, AND METHODS OF USING HIGH-PURITY COMPOSITE MATERIALS
A composite filter aid may include acid-washed diatomaceous earth and a low extractable metal mineral. A method for making a composite material may include blending an acid-washed diatomaceous earth and a low extractable metal mineral, adding a binder to the blended diatomaceous earth and low extractable metal mineral, and forming the composite material from the acid-washed diatomaceous earth, the low extractable metal mineral, and the binder. A method for filtering a liquid may include providing a liquid for filtering and filtering the liquid through a composite filter aid that includes an acid-washed diatomaceous earth and a low extractable metal mineral.
TARGET GENERATION DEVICE, AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING FILTER STRUCTURE
A target generation device may include a filter structure, a flange, a tank unit, and a nozzle section. The flange may accommodate the filter structure and contain a flow path passing through the filter structure. The tank unit may contain a space in communication with the flow path in the flange and store a predetermined target material. The nozzle section may be provided to the flange and in communication with the space in the tank unit through the flow path in the flange. The filter structure according to one embodiment of the present disclosure may include a filter of a porous material and a socket integrally formed with the filter.
Apparatus for Collecting and Filtering Arc By-Products
An apparatus for collecting and filtering contaminated air expelled from a switchgear assembly following an arc fault. The apparatus includes a plenum extending from an inlet opening to an outlet opening, the inlet opening configured for sealing engagement with the switchgear assembly, so as to receive the contaminated air expelled thereby. At least one filter is arranged within the plenum for filtering arc by-products from the contaminated air. The apparatus is configured to direct the contaminated air through the at least one filter to produce filtered air, and to exhaust the filtered air from the outlet opening.
Micro-machined filter for magnetic particles
A method for filtering magnetic particles includes spinning a filter including a plurality of pores within a substrate. The method further includes applying, subsequent to spinning the filter, an external magnetic field to the filter. The method includes disposing a solution including a first particle and a second particle onto the filter. The first particle includes a magnetic particle of interest. The method further includes separating the first particle from the second particle by capturing the first particle within a pore of the plurality of pores within the substrate.
Transmission oil filter comprising a melt blown layer at the downstream side
A transmission oil filter has a filtration layer of fiberglass medium and, downstream of the filtration layer, a melt blown layer applied to the filtration layer for preventing or reducing introduction of fiberglass into the liquid to be filtered. The filtration layer of fiber glass medium has two faces and a spunbond layer is attached for improved handling of the filtration layer of fiberglass medium to at least one of the two faces.
Air filter medium, filter pleat pack, and air filter unit
A provided air filter medium is an air filter medium including a porous fluorine resin membrane, the air filter medium further including: a glass filter medium layer. The glass filter medium layer and the porous fluorine resin membrane are placed in this order from upstream to downstream of the air filter medium configured to allow an air flow to pass through the air filter medium. At a surface of the glass filter medium layer on an upstream side in a direction of the air flow, a carbon-to-silicon ratio (C/Si) evaluated by X-ray fluorescent analysis is 0.020 or more. This air filter medium is suitable for reducing a pressure drop increase even in an environment including liquid particles such as oil mist.
