Treatment of water
A process to treat water includes adding a salt-forming base to the water thereby producing saline water, or thereby forming a salt in the water which is different from a salt that the water started out with, if the water started out as saline. The saline water is treated, at a temperature T1 which is above the saturation temperature of the saline water, in a first membrane separation stage to provide clean water and a first brine, the salinity of the first brine being higher than the salinity of the saline water. The first brine is cooled to a temperature T2 to precipitate some of the salt from the first brine and the precipitated salt is separated from the first brine producing a second brine, the temperature T2 being below the temperature T1 but above the freezing temperature of the first brine. The second brine is treated at a temperature T3 above the saturation temperature of the second brine in a second membrane separation stage to provide clean water and a third brine. The salt-forming base, the temperature T1 and the temperature T2 are selected so that the salt which is formed in the saline water has a solubility in water at the temperature T1 which is at least 1.5 times the solubility of the salt in water at the temperature T2.
MESENCHYMAL STEM CELL COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS OF MAKING
Disclosures herein are directed to first compositions comprising exosomes and extracellular matrix components and their use thereof. Also described are methods and kits wherein these first compositions are packaged and used with second compositions comprising mesenchymal stem cells. The first and second compositions are derived from the same tissue source using tangential flow filtration.
Apparatus system and method to extract minerals and metals from water
A new apparatus, system and method to purified produced water and removed valuable metals and minerals is described. The apparatus comprises a device for flowing produced water wellbore from a wellbore to the produced water purification apparatus; at least one device to remove heavy metals from the produced water; at least one brine removal device to remove brine from the produced water. The method comprises steps to use the apparatus and the system comprises a control panel that operates the at least one device for removing heavy metals and at least one sensor in a coordinated manner.
Recombinant micelle and method of in vivo assembly
A method of in vivo assembly of a recombinant micelle including: introducing a plasmid into a plant cell, wherein: the plasmid includes a segment of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) for encoding a ribonucleic acid (RNA) for a protein in a casein micelle, the segment of DNA is transcribed and translated; forming recombinant casein proteins in the plant cell, wherein: the recombinant casein proteins include a κ-casein and at least one of an αS.sub.1-casein, an αS.sub.2-casein, a β-casein; and assembling in vivo a recombinant micelle within the plant cell, wherein: an outer layer of the recombinant micelle is enriched with the κ-casein, an inner matrix of the recombinant micelle include at least one of the αS.sub.1-casein, the αS.sub.2-casein, the β-casein.
BIOLOGICAL AND ALGAE HARVESTING AND CULTIVATION SYSTEMS AND METHODS
Algae harvesting and cultivating systems and methods for producing high concentrations of algae product with minimal energy. In an embodiment, a dead-end filtration system and method includes at least one tank and a plurality hollow fiber membranes positioned in the at least one tank. An algae medium is pulled through the hollow fiber membranes such that a retentate and a permeate are produced.
SYNTHESIS OF OLIGOSACCHARIDES
This invention relates to a method for the enzymatic synthesis of oligosaccharides, preferably human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) The method comprises the enzymatic transfer of a glycosyl moiety and subsequent removal of by-products, such as lactose, by nanofiltration using a membrane comprising an active polyamide layer.
A CONTINUOUS MANUFACTURING PROCESS FOR BIOLOGICS MANUFACTURING BY INTEGRATION OF DRUG SUBSTANCE AND DRUG PRODUCT PROCESSES
A biologics manufacturing process that connects the drug substance and drug product processes into an integrated, continuous process.
HEAT TREATED PULSE FLOURS
Heat treated pulse flour, pulse protein isolates obtained from heat treated pulse flour, food compositions containing such isolates, and methods for preparing heat treated pulse flours and pulse protein isolates are disclosed. The amount of volatile small molecule compounds present in the heat treated pulse flour are decreased or increased.
Filtration System for Preparation of Fluids for Medical Applications
A system for filling multiple sterile containers includes a filter with an inlet port and multiple outlet ports, the outlet ports being pre-attached to sterile containers by respective filling lines of each container. Each container has an interior and each of the respective filling lines are connected to a respective container interior. The respective filling lines are sealed to the outlet ports and the containers such that the container interiors are isolated from an external environment except the inlet port, via the filter, forming a combined interior volume which is sterile. A container that is connectable to an outlet port the system has a bladder, a first tube and a second tube connected to the bladder, and a sterilizing filter. The container, the first tube and the second tube, and the sterilizing filter are sterile before water is flowed through the sterilizing filter into the bladder.
MANUFACTURING OF BUPIVACAINE MULTIVESICULAR LIPOSOMES
Embodiments of the present application relate to batches of bupivacaine multivesicular liposomes (MVLs) prepared by a commercial manufacturing process using independently operating dual tangential flow filtration modules.
