Macroporous or mesoporous polymer films in hollow fiber geometry

The present invention is directed towards a method for the preparation of macroporous or mesoporous polymer films in hollow fiber geometry. The method according to the present invention reliably produces macroporous or mesoporous homopolymer or copolymer films in hollow fiber geometry having an ordered porous structure. Preferably, the pores are isoporous. The method involves the purging or casting a polyol adjacent to a film forming polymer solution of at least one homopolymer or at least one copolymer in a suitable solvent while polyol diffuses in and then condenses out of the film forming solution before the solution is immersed into a coagulation bath. The methods also require the presence of a carrier solution or carrier substrate during spinning or casting. The method makes macroporous or mesoporous film formation possible with a single step processing method.

The present application discloses a polymer material, membrane and coating as well as preparation methods and applications thereof. The polymer material is formed by the phase inversion of a polymer compound containing an ionizable hydrophilic group and the ionization of the hydrophilic group. The polymer material has a static contact angle of greater than 140 and an adhesive force of less than 10 N with respect to multiple oil phase systems in water. The polymer material provided by the present application has an underwater super-hydrophobic property and an anti-adhesion function not only to diesel, oil, edible oil and other low-viscosity light oil and numerous water-immiscible organic solvents, but also to petroleum, heavy oil, silicone oil, heavy diesel and other high-viscosity oil. A membrane, coating and the like formed from the polymer material is resistant to oil adhesion and contamination in water along with a self-cleaning effect, and thus has a broad application prospect in a variety of fields.

CARBON MOLECULAR SIEVE MEMBRANES CONTAINING A GROUP 13 METAL AND METHOD TO MAKE THEM

A carbon molecular sieve (CMS) membrane having improved separation characteristics for separating olefins from their corresponding paraffins is comprised of carbon with at most trace amounts of sulfur and a group 13 metal. The CMS membrane may be made by pyrolyzing a precursor polymer devoid of sulfur in which the precursor polymer has had a group 13 metal incorporated into it, wherein the metal is in a reduced state. The pyrolyzing for the precursor having the group 13 metal incorporated into it is performed in a nonoxidizing atmosphere and at a heating rate and temperature such that the metal in a reduced state (e.g., covalently bonded to carbon or nitrogen or in the metal state).
