The first zone may include a bottom layer with a blend of: (1) the platinum group metal on a support and (2) the first SCR catalyst; and a top layer comprising a second SCR catalyst, the top layer located over the bottom layer.
Catalyzed filters with end coating for lean engine exhaust
Provided are catalyst articles, methods of manufacturing catalyst articles, and methods for controlling emissions in diesel engine exhaust streams with catalyst articles, where the emission treatment system of various embodiments effectively treats diesel engine exhaust with a catalyst article. In one or more embodiments, the catalyst articles have a platinum group metal end coating covering an outlet end surface of the catalytic article. In one or more embodiments, a method is provided where an applicator transfers a platinum group metal coating to an outlet end face of a catalytic article.
Exhaust emission reduction system having an HC-trap and NOx-trap combination designed for operating under strategic lean conditions
Methods and systems are featured for reducing harmful exhaust gas components of combustion devices such as gasoline-powered combustion engines (e.g., predominately stoichiometric running engines). The methods and systems include an underbody combination of a hydrocarbon trap (HCT), suited for cold start hydrocarbon adsorption, as well as an associated NOx trap. The system is inclusive of a control unit for extending a lean exhaust condition reaching the desorbing HCT as to avoid a deficiency in oxygen during the time period of HCT desorption. The system is also inclusive of one or more TWCs as in one associated with the underbody HCT-NOx-trap combination and/or one positioned in a close coupled position. Platinum group metals as in Pd, Rh and Pt are also featured on one, two or all three of the HCT, NOx-trap, and TWC when present.
Three-zone diesel oxidation catlayst
The invention relates to a diesel oxidation catalyst which has a support body with a length L extending between a first end face a and a second end face b and catalytically active material zones A, B, and C arranged on the support body, whereinmaterial zone A contains palladium or platinum and palladium in a weight ratio of Pt:Pd of 1 and an alkaline earth metal and extends over 20 to 80% of the length L starting from the end face a, material zone B contains ceroxide, is free of platinum, and extends over 20 to 80% of the length L starting from the end face b, material zone C contains platinum or platinum and palladium in a weight ratio of Pt:Pd of 5, and neither material zone A nor material zone C is arranged over material zone B.
CATALYST FOR AUTOMOTIVE EMISSIONS CONTROL
An automotive catalytic converter includes a three-way catalyst having Rh as the only precious metal configured as a front zone and a three-way catalyst having a mixture of Rh and Pd, Pt, or both configured as a rear zone, such that an exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine passes through the front zone before passing through the rear zone to minimize sulfur poisoning of the catalytic converter.
HONEYCOMB CATALYTIC CONVERTER
The present invention relates to a honeycomb catalytic converter, including: a honeycomb structured body in which multiple through-holes are arranged longitudinally in parallel with one another with a partition wall therebetween; and Pd and Rh supported on the partition walls of the honeycomb structured body, wherein the honeycomb structured body is an extrudate containing a ceria-zirconia complex oxide and alumina, a Pd-carrying region where only Pd is supported is formed on the partition walls within a predetermined width from one end of the honeycomb structured body, and a Rh-carrying region where only Rh is supported is formed on the partition walls within a predetermined width from the other end of the honeycomb structured body, and the Pd-carrying region extends to at least 50% of the length of the honeycomb structured body, and the Rh-carrying region extends to at least 20% of the length of the honeycomb structured body.
ASC WITH PLATINUM GROUP METAL IN MULTIPLE LAYERS
