METHOD OF PREPARING AN EMULSION, A DEVICE FOR PREPARING SAID EMULSION , AND A VEHICLE
A method and device of preparing an emulsion comprising a first liquid and a second liquid, said method comprising the step of dispersing the first liquid into the second liquid, characterized in that the method comprises: passing the first liquid through an injection nozzle (108) for creating a spray of droplets of the first liquid, and injecting thus created droplets of first liquid into the second liquid such that Q, where Q is equal to the square of the speed of the droplets, is at least 225 m.sup.2/s.sup.2; wherein W, wherein W is sg*Q*d divided by St with sg being the specific gravity of the first liquid in kg/m.sup.3, d being the mean Sauter droplet diameter in meter of the spray leaving the injection nozzle in air, and St being the surface tension of the first liquid in Newton/meter; is at least 250 kg*m/N*s.sup.2.
Weight-actuated spring-biased valve
A control mechanism locks open a spring-loaded valve and automatically releases the spring-loaded valve to close upon a predetermined lesser weight load being applied. The spring-loaded valve includes a flow valve, a valve lever that pivots between open and closed positions, and a valve spring that biases the valve lever to the closed position. The control mechanism includes a pivotal release lever having an engagement arm and an opposite load arm, and a release spring that biases the release lever from a blocking position with the engagement arm retaining the valve lever in its open position to a release position with the valve lever free to pivot past the engagement arm and to the closed position under the valve spring force. The load arm includes an additive-container support for a load of an additive fluid to be mixed with a carrier fluid whose flow is controlled by the valve.
AN APPARATUS FOR PREPARING AND DISPENSING A LUBRICATING AND COOLING LIQUID PRODUCT FOR MACHINE TOOLS
Disclosed is an apparatus for preparing and dispensing a lubricant and coolant liquid product including a body with a base that defines a support surface for at least one container of an additive product and having a collection tank above which the container can be positioned, a storage reservoir of water suppliable from a water source, a mixing unit in communication with the reservoir and with the at least one container of the additive product, to mix the water and the additive product in a predetermined concentration, first pumping means adapted to pump the water from the reservoir toward the mixing unit, a control unit to control at least the first pumping means, and a dispensing circuit for dispensing the lubricant and coolant fluid obtained in the mixing unit. The body further includes a containing structure that encloses one, several or all the aforesaid components.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MAKING MICROSPHERES AND EMULSIONS
Various examples of systems and methods for making microspheres, microparticles, and emulsions are provided. In one example, a system and method for forming microspheres comprises: pumping a dispersed phase liquid and a continuous phase liquid into a levitating magnetic impeller pump to subject the dispersed phase liquid and continuous phase liquid to a high shear environment within the impeller pump's pump chamber. In another example, a system and method for forming an emulsion comprises: pumping a dispersed phase liquid and an inner aqueous phase liquid into a levitating magnetic impeller pump to subject the dispersed phase and the inner aqueous phase to a high shear environment within the impeller pump's pump chamber.
NOZZLE APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR USE THEREOF
Nozzle Assemblies and methods of use for producing a liquid jet are disclosed that may be permit adjustable time delays between mixing of fluids and observation of reactions. An example nozzle assembly includes: a housing having an inlet and an outlet and a first channel defined therebetween, where the housing includes a gas focusing aperture defining the housing outlet; an intermediate tube disposed within the first channel of the housing, where the intermediate tube has an inlet and an outlet and defines a second channel therebetween; and a central tube disposed within the second channel of the intermediate tube, where the central tube has an inlet and an outlet and defines a third channel therebetween, where the central tube outlet is longitudinally spaced apart from the intermediate tube outlet such that the intermediate tube outlet is disposed between the central tube outlet and the gas focusing aperture's inlet.
Systems and methods for generation of emulsions with suitable clarity with applications of use
The inventions cover systems and methods for generation of emulsions having suitable clarity without requiring refractive index matching between emulsion components. Systems can include: a substrate including a set of openings; a reservoir facing the substrate at a first side and containing a sample fluid configured for droplet formation upon interacting with the set of openings of the substrate; and a collecting container facing the substrate at a second side and containing a set of fluid layers configured with a density gradient and suitable immiscibility characteristics. One or more components of the system(s) can support methods for emulsion generation, in relation to enabling interactions between multiple continuous phases and a dispersed droplet phase to generate clear emulsions. Applications of the inventions(s) can include performance of droplet-based digital PCR in an improved manner (e.g., without requiring implementation of correction factors based upon Poisson statistics).
ADJUSTABLE ADDITIVE CARTRIDGE SYSTEMS
An adjustable additive cartridge that provides adjustable metering of additive to a base fluid as the base fluid is flowing through the cartridge. A spout is mounted for limited rotation within a base element of the cartridge. Rotation of the spout results in varying degrees of flow of additive into a base fluid flow path through the cartridge. The cartridge may be used with a portable beverage container, such as a sports bottle or off-the-shelf water bottle. The supply of base fluid in a container used with the cartridge may be kept in an unmixed, pure state, and other cartridges, each having different additives (i.e., flavors) may be used interchangeably with the same base fluid supply. The cartridge allows a consumer/user to experience different additives, such as different flavors or supplement compositions, for a given supply of base liquid in a single container. A check valve on the cartridge prevents backflow of the base fluid. An integrated filter for filtering base fluid flowing into the cartridge may be provided. The additive cartridge may be sealed to provide for extended storage and to provide a user/consumer with evidence of integrity, quality and/or tampering prior to purchase and/or use. Visual and tactile indicators of the amount of additive being added to a base fluid may be provided. A container may retain a spare additive adjustable cartridge on the container.
In-Line Well Fluid Eduction Blending
A system and method of wellbore operations that uses an eductor unit for introducing additives into a moving fluid stream to form a mixture. The mixture is used as a completion drilling fluid for drilling through plugs installed in a wellbore. Example additives include polymers, such as friction reducers, viscosifiers, potassium chloride, polysaccharide, polyacrylamide, biocides, lubricants, long chain polymer molecules, and the like. The fluid is primarily fresh water and/or brine water, and acts as a motive fluid in the eductor unit for drawing the additive into the eductor unit. Forming the mixture in the eductor unit which is injected into the wellbore.
METHODS AND APPARATUSES FOR MIXING CRUDE OIL AND WATER
An apparatus for mixing wash water and crude oil includes a crude oil pipe, a wash water manifold, a plurality of conduits, and a flow controller. The crude oil pipe includes a wall having an interior surface, an exterior surface, and a plurality of wash water injectors. The plurality of wash water injectors are angularly distributed on a circumferential band of the wall of the crude oil pipe. The flow controller is operable to regulate wash water flow through the plurality of conduits. Each of the plurality of wash water injectors is fluidly coupled to the wash water manifold by one of the plurality of conduits. The plurality of wash water injectors are arranged to provide mixing of the wash water and the crude oil when the wash water is injected into the crude oil pipe through the plurality of wash water injectors.
