LANTHANIDE-DOPED LAYERED DOUBLE HYDROXIDES AND METHOD OF PRODUCING SAME
The present disclosure relates to a method for producing lanthanide doped layered double hydroxides (Ln-doped LDHs). The method includes the steps of preparing a carbonate free alkaline solution; preparing a solution of metal salts comprising a salt of a lanthanide; co-precipitating the alkaline solution and the solution of metal salts to form a mixture and Ln-doped LDH precipitate wherein the pH of the mixture is maintained at a constant value; aging the precipitate; and separating the precipitate from the solution. The alkaline solution is an aqueous ammonia solution. The present disclosure is also related to lanthanide-doped layered double hydroxides (La-doped LDHs) obtainable by such a method, as well as to the use of the lanthanide-doped layered double hydroxides obtainable by such a method.

Alkali-promoted activated alumina adsorbent
An adsorbent for removing CO.sub.2 from a gas mixture, the adsorbent comprising alumina and a carbonate compound where the carbonate to alumina IR absorbance intensity ratio is reduced by washing the adsorbent with water. The disclosure also describes a method of making adsorbent particles, process for removing CO.sub.2 from a gas mixture using the adsorbent, and an adsorption unit using the adsorbent.
PERFLUOROALKYL AND POLYFLUOROALKYL SORBENT MATERIALS AND METHODS OF USE
Sorbent materials that are treated with ions, salts, oxides, hydroxides, or carbonates of calcium, magnesium, strontium, or barium are useful in removing perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS), 2,3,3,3,-tetrafluoro-2-(heptafluoropropoxy)propanoate and heptafluoropropyl 1,2,2,2-tetrafluoroethyl ether, and similar compounds from liquids and gases are disclosed. The sorbent materials with the disclosed treatments offer improved performance as measured against untreated sorbent materials.
CA-Y-CARBONATE NANOSHEETS, THEIR USE, AND SYNTHESIS
Nanosheets of Ca.sup.2+ and Y.sup.3+, with CO.sub.3.sup.2 in the interlayer with a uniform diameter and lengths of several tens of microns have been successfully synthesized in a hydrotalcite layer structure (a layered double hydroxide), using a hydrothermal method. The formation mechanism of lamellar CaYCO.sub.3.sup.2 layered double hydroxides (LDHs) depends on the molar ratio of Ca and Y and the reaction time and temperature. The resulting LDH materials exhibit excellent affinity and selectivity for heavy transition metal and metalloid ions.
Process for preparing an adsorbing material comprising a precipitating step of boehmite according to specific conditions and process for extracting lithium from saline solutions using this material
The present invention relates to the field of solid materials for adsorption of lithium. In particular, the present invention relates to a novel method for preparing a crystallized and shaped solid material, preferably as extrudates, of formula LiX.sub.x.2Al(OH).sub.3, nH.sub.2O with n being comprised between 0.01 and 10, x being equal to 1 when X is an anion selected from among chloride, hydroxide and nitrate anions, and x being equal to 0.5 when X is an anion selected from among sulfate and carbonate anions, comprising a step a) for precipitation of boehmite under specific temperature and pH conditions, at least one shaping step, preferably by extrusion, said method also comprising a final hydrothermal treatment step, the whole giving the possibility of increasing the adsorption capacity for lithium as well as the adsorption kinetics of the materials obtained as compared with the materials of the prior art when the latter is used in a method for extracting the lithium from saline solutions.
Iron filings-based green environmental media for nutrient removal and methods of use
A method of water treatment includes flowing water that includes nitrogen and phosphorus compounds through a sorption media composition within at least one chamber of a water treatment system. The composition comprises iron filings comprising at most 5 volume (vol) % of the composition, sand particles comprising at least 80 vol % of the composition, and clay particles comprising at most 5 vol % of the composition. The iron filings, sand particles, and clay particles are mixed together. During the flowing, the clay particles attract the nitrogen and phosphorus compounds, which become absorbed onto a surface of the iron filings and the clay, resulting in a removal of the nitrogen and phosphorus compounds and the generation of reaction products. Nitrogen and phosphorus are then recovered from the reaction products.
