A filter aid composition may include a first acid-treated silica-based filter aid having a first particle size distribution and a second acid-treated silica-based filter aid having a second particle size distribution. A method of making a filter aid composition may include providing a first silica-based filter aid having a first particle size distribution, providing a second silica-based filter aid having a second particle size distribution, and blending the first silica-based filter aid with the second silica-based filter aid to form the filter aid composition. A method of filtering a fluid may include providing a filter aid composition including a first acid-treated silica-based filter aid and a second acid-treated silica-based filter aid and filtering the fluid through the filter aid composition. The filter aid composition may have a multimodal particle size distribution such that the first particle size distribution has a d50 greater than the second particle size distribution.
Diatomaceous earth composition containing salt water
The present invention relates to an improved diatomaceous earth composition containing salt water. The diatomaceous earth composition according to the present invention comprises an agglomerated mixture of calcined diatomaceous earth particles, water and at least one inorganic salt, wherein the mass ratio of the calcined diatomaceous earth particles and water is in the range of 1:1.0 to 1:2.0, and wherein the content of the at least one inorganic salt is equal to or more than 0.25 parts by mass based on 100 parts by mass of water. In a further aspect, the present invention relates to a method for producing the diatomaceous earth composition according to the present invention. In another aspect, the present invention relates to the use of the diatomaceous earth composition according to the present invention as an agent for precoat filtration or dynamic body feed filtration in biopharmaceutical applications.

The present invention relates to an improved diatomaceous earth composition containing salt water. The invention relates to a solid porous article having a crosslinked thermoplastic binder interconnecting one or more types of interactive powdery materials or fibers. The interconnectivity is such that the binder connects the powdery materials or fibers in discrete spots rather than as a complete coating, allowing the materials or fibers to be in direct contact with, and interact with a fluid. The resulting article is a formed multicomponent, interconnected web, with porosity. The separation article is useful in water purification, as well as in the separation of dissolved or suspended materials in both aqueous and non-aqueous systems in industrial uses, gas storage.

A reversible enrichment material, its preparation and application thereof are provided. The reversible enrichment material includes an inorganic carrier; and an active metal salt, a first metal salt promoter and a second metal salt promoter supported on the inorganic carrier. The active metal salt is a soluble silver salt, a soluble copper salt, or a combination thereof. The first metal salt promoter is one or more selected from the group consisting of soluble salts of Group IA, Group IIA and Group IIIA metals, and the second metal salt promoter is one or more selected from the group consisting of soluble salts of transition metals other than Group IB metals. The reversible enrichment material can realize effective separation of saturated hydrocarbon from unsaturated hydrocarbon and has good reversibility.

A diatomite filtration product includes flux-calcined diatomaceous earth, wherein the diatomite filtration product has: (1) an intricate and porous structure of diatomite, (2) a zeta potential in a range of from about −1.0 mV to about −6.0 mV within a pH range of from about 3.0 to about 8.0, and (3) a centrifuged wet density in a range of from about 0.176 g/ml to about 0.256 g/ml.

Some embodiments advantageously provide nutrient-binding compositions that include ingredients that have a synergistic effect such that the nutrient-binding composition is capable of removing more nutrients that the individual ingredients added together. In one embodiment, a nutrient-binding composition comprises: a first amount of a nutrient-binding ingredient; and a second amount of a biogenic additive, the first amount being greater than or equal to the second amount. In one aspect of the embodiment, the nutrient-binding composition has a greater nutrient removal capacity from a volume of water than an additive nutrient removal capacity of the first amount of nutrient-binding ingredient and the second amount of biogenic added together.
